About the Role:
The NDE Assistant plays a critical role in supporting non-destructive examination (NDE) processes to ensure the integrity and safety of materials and components used in various industries. This position involves assisting certified NDE technicians in conducting inspections using methods such as ultrasonic, radiographic, magnetic particle, and dye penetrant testing. The primary goal is to help identify defects or irregularities without causing damage to the tested items, thereby contributing to quality assurance and compliance with industry standards. The NDE Assistant will also be responsible for preparing equipment, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring a safe working environment. Through meticulous attention to detail and adherence to protocols, the NDE Assistant helps maintain high standards of operational reliability and safety.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic understanding of non-destructive examination principles and techniques.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety protocols.
- Strong attention to detail and good manual dexterity.
- Willingness to work in various industrial environments, including manufacturing and construction sites.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience or training in NDE or quality control environments.
- Familiarity with specific NDE methods such as ultrasonic or magnetic particle testing.
- Certification as an NDE Level I or II assistant or equivalent.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and report generation.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Assist certified NDE technicians in performing inspections using various non-destructive testing methods.
- Prepare and calibrate NDE equipment and materials prior to inspections.
- Document inspection results accurately and maintain detailed records for quality control purposes.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies during all inspection activities.
- Support the maintenance and organization of NDE tools and testing environments.
Skills:
The NDE Assistant uses their foundational knowledge of non-destructive testing methods daily to support inspection activities effectively. Attention to detail is crucial when preparing equipment and documenting results to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards. Communication skills are important for coordinating with certified technicians and reporting findings clearly.
