JOB TITLE: TLC Tutor

DEPARTMENT: The Learning Center

REPORTS TO: TLC Coordinator

FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt

JOB SUMMARY: To provide quality tutoring to students identified with dyslexia or other reading challenges using the Barton Reading System.

Approximately 10 hours/week to start with opportunity to increase hours/week throughout the year.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Born-again Christian and credible Christian role model whose godly lifestyle and character demonstrate obedience to God and the Holy Scriptures
• Accepts and supports the school’s statement of faith and indicates a continuing sense of God’s direction in working at Lighthouse Christian School
• Demonstrated clerical expertise and experience
• The ability to work efficiently with a service-oriented attitude
• Proficient communication skills (verbal and written)
• Excellent personal relations with staff and the public at large
• Prior training in tutoring Barton Reading and Spelling program is preferred but not required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Tutor students on pre-determined schedule keeping fidelity to the Barton Reading and Spelling program
• Maintains written documentation of student’s progress through the program
• Report progress of student at the end of each session in written form
• Complete necessary training for tutoring modules within the Barton Reading and Spelling program
• Perform duties as assigned by program coordinators
• Participate in in-service professional development, devotions, meetings and training as required
