Job Summary

Under the general direction of the IT Manager, the Junior Systems Administrator provides computer operations and daily support for computer network and its users; monitors, operates, or coordinates and assists others in the operation of computer hardware, software, and peripherals; and performs a variety of moderately complex information technology support duties to ensure smooth delivery of technology services.

Essential Functions

• Provides assistance and support to the Information Technology Manager.

• Provides technical support to users by diagnosing and correcting problems.

• Install and configure all required software and hardware.

• Perform software and hardware upgrades.

• Provide troubleshooting, repair and maintenance for computer equipment and assist with testing personal computers and peripherals on the network to diagnose hardware and software problems.

• Performs complex computer operation tasks acting under general supervision.

• Assists with development, implementation, and monitoring of Information Technology policies and procedures.

• Monitors and operates computer equipment and peripherals, perform routine maintenance that includes cleaning hardware.

• Sets up and configures computers, peripherals and accounts with appropriate security levels.

• Assists in maintaining internet connectivity, firewalls, backup, and telephone system.

• Maintains hardware and software inventory.

• Performs maintenance of server resources and network infrastructure components.

• Assists with planning and implementing network infrastructure upgrades.

• Provides account-level support to users including unlock and password reset.

• Executes assigned tasks to support the organization, following protocols and procedures, gathering resources, and communicating with others to ensure compliance through vigilance and attention to detail.

• Maintains confidentiality and safeguards employee and organizational integrity through diligent protection of data and systems.

Non-Essential Functions

• Participate in inter-departmental committee work, as assigned

• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

All SEMCA team members are expected to be technically competent and committed to continuous

development of their skills. The following skills, knowledge and education or certifications are specifically required for this position:

Required Qualifications

· Associate’s Degree in relevant field of study or equivalent experience pursuant to SEMCA’s Experience in Lieu of Education policy.

· One to three years’ experience with a wide range of information technology systems, including end-user computing, networking, and basic server or infrastructure components.

· Ability to plan, design, test, implement, document, and monitor IT systems or changes while following established procedures.

· Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, follow through, and meet deadlines

· Ability to travel to American Job Center sites as needed.

· Flexible and adaptable to fast paced, changing environments; detail oriented and driven

· Ability to maintain reasonable and responsible use of resources.

· Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and apply solutions, including identification of potential causes.

· Ability to positively impact the organization in assigned functional area or through contributions to program delivery.

· Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and staying current with relevant technologies and industry trends.

· Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and the ability to use productivity tools effectively in support of daily work activities.

· Effective listening skills, communication of ideas outside the immediate team, and ability to recognize impact of communication style on others; may have to communicate management initiatives, instructions, and policies in a consistent, effective, and timely manner.

Physical Demands

Duties require sufficient mobility to work in a normal office setting and use standard office

equipment including a computer, vision to read printed materials on an LCD screen and smartphone, hearing and speech sufficient to communicate in person and over the telephone.
