Job Description
The Supply Planner is responsible for developing and executing integrated supply and production plans that support client delivery commitments, manufacturing execution, and business objectives within a GMP pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This role serves as a critical cross-functional partner to Manufacturing, MSAT, Quality, Engineering, Procurement, Finance, and Program Management to ensure material availability, production readiness, and schedule adherence across internal and client programs.
The Supply Planner owns material and production planning activities including demand translation, capacity alignment, inventory optimization, production scheduling support, and supply risk identification. This individual is expected to proactively identify constraints, drive resolution of planning conflicts, and support operational decision-making in a fast-paced CDMO environment.
- Develop and maintain integrated supply and material plans to support manufacturing schedules, client timelines, and operational priorities.
- Execute material requirements planning (MRP) activities to ensure timely procurement, inventory availability, and uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
- Partner cross-functionally with Manufacturing, MSAT, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Engineering, Facilities, Procurement, Finance, and Program Management to align production requirements and resolve scheduling or material constraints.
- Support Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) and capacity planning processes through scenario analysis, production readiness assessments, and supply-demand balancing activities.
- Monitor material availability, inventory health, lead times, and production schedules to proactively identify risks impacting client delivery or manufacturing execution.
- Drive schedule adherence and operational execution through accurate planning parameters, shop order management, and ERP data integrity.
- Analyze planning and operational performance metrics including schedule attainment, inventory levels, material shortages, forecast accuracy, and on-time delivery performance.
- Develop and communicate mitigation strategies for supply disruptions, capacity constraints, and changing client priorities.
- Collaborate with Procurement and suppliers to support continuity of supply, expedite critical materials, and resolve delivery issues.
- Support implementation and continuous improvement of planning processes, inventory strategies, and operational workflows to improve efficiency and reduce lead times.
- Maintain planning documentation, master data, and system accuracy within ERP and planning systems.
- Participate in deviation investigations, change controls, CAPA activities, and operational readiness initiatives as required.
- Ensure all activities are performed in compliance with GMP requirements, company procedures, and regulatory expectations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Engineering, Business, or related discipline required.
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in supply planning, production planning, materials management, or scheduling within a pharmaceutical, biotech, biologics, or GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting complex manufacturing operations within a CDMO environment strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of MRP, ERP systems, capacity planning, inventory control, production scheduling, and supply chain processes.
- Working knowledge of GMP manufacturing operations and regulated documentation practices.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and operate effectively in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into operational decisions and business recommendations.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP and planning systems such as Oracle, SAP, ASCP, OPM, or equivalent platforms.
- Experience with KPI development, reporting, and operational performance analysis.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence cross-functional teams and escalate operational risks appropriately.
- Ability to stand for 1-2 hours at a time, sit for 2 to 3 hours at a time.
- Frequently lift and or move objects up to 30 pounds.
- Stand/walk during entire length of shift.
- Use arms, hands and fingers to handle, feel or reach.
- Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Visual abilities including near and far sight, color, peripheral vision, depth and ability to focus.
