Compensation: $39K - $54,500K

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Scheduling Manager, is responsible for assuring that request for scheduling procedures/tests received from physician(s) offices and patient(s) are processed in an accurate and timely manner using the manual and automated scheduling systems. Obtains pertinent demographic, insurance and financial information and completes the preregistration and financial screening process while ensuring medical necessity and payor guidelines for authorizations are met.- Assist with routine patient inquiries related to the scheduling and pre-registration process. Maintains accurate records associated with the scheduling, and the processing of patient documentation. Able to manage multiple tasks with an excellent orientation to professional customer service.
- Checks daily prior authorization reports and list of surgeries, outpatient schedules to check all patients are accounted for. Calls and obtains via online portal, any required referrals, pre-authorizations, pre-registration and authorization and RQI or tracking numbers for applicable accounts to assure reimbursement and minimize denials.
- Verifies that schedulers are entering completed and accurate notes in Meditech Expanse regarding benefits and preauthorization’s and other pertinent information in a timely manner. Reviews and updates incorrect patient, guarantor or insurance information entered in Meditech as necessary. Uses existing tools/resources to minimize denial of claim/lost revenue.
- Calls patients with a group or private insurance that has a deductible, co-pay, or co-insurance to meet. Explains benefits and payment options and makes appropriate deposit and initial payment arrangements or provides information about our financial assistance program. Refers to Financial Counselor any patient who expresses financial liabilities, whose benefits are inadequate, terminated, or whose benefits cannot be verified after checking for further or new information with the patient, the patient’s employer, or any other available resources.
- Must be able to problem-solve and assist Manager with any issues that may arise from patients, staff, or departments. Make sure that all issues are addressed, and appropriate action is taken if needed.
Qualifications: (List any required knowledge, skills, experiences or training, including length of time necessary for proficiency, required to perform the job.)
- Assisting Manager with all reports and work queue workflows.
- Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement principles
- Knowledge of healthcare computer systems relating to patient access and patient financial services
- 1-3 years of scheduling and (or) insurance verification experience
- Highschool Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to type minimum 30 wpm
- Able to work from 7am-5:30pm
