SEACORP is seeking a well-qualified NAVCERT Technician.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Job Summary: SEACORP is seeking aNavigation Technician to support the U.S. Navy in the testing, installation,and certification of shipboard Navigation and Network systems. The primaryfocus of this role is the execution of Navigation Certification (NAVCERT)protocols to ensure system readiness for unrestricted operations. Thetechnician will interface with Navy personnel, stakeholders, and equipmentmanufacturers to diagnose system faults and verify that navigation data meetsrigorous operational standards.
Job Responsibilities Include:
NAVCERT Execution & Testing:
- Conduct comprehensive dockside and at-sea testing specifically for NAVCERT milestones.
- Perform software and hardware integration testing to ensure navigation systems (such as AN/WSN-7, WSN-12, or NAVGAT) communicate correctly across shipboard networks.
- Operate, monitor, and interpret high-precision navigation data to verify system accuracy during certification trials.
- Develop and execute formal test procedures aligned with NAVCERT requirements and OPNAVINST 9420.2 standards.
- Technical Support & Troubleshooting:
- Provide specialized system installation, testing, and troubleshooting support for complex navigation suites.
- Diagnose and repair system faults, failures, and data discrepancies identified during the certification process.
- Offer both remote and on-site technical support to Navy ships to resolve critical navigation and sensor interface issues.
- Interface with U.S. Navy engineers, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and vendors to prepare shipboard equipment for formal evaluation.
Documentation & Compliance:
- Maintain meticulous test logs and technical documentation, including the generation of Software/System Trouble
- Reports (STRs) for any anomalies found.
- Ensure all testing and maintenance actions comply with Navy safety and operational standards.
- Assist in the development of technical reports summarizing NAVCERT results for Type Commander (TYCOM) review.
Qualifications:
Education: High School diploma or GED or formal technical training or completion of a Navy Technical School (e.g., ET, IC, or STS "A" or "C" schools).
Experience: 6 or more years of hands-on experience with maritime navigation equipment.
- Demonstrated experience conducting formal Navy testing (NAVCERT or equivalent sea trials) is highly preferred.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and integrate complex hardware/software systems in a shipboard environment.
As a requirement of employment, all SEACORP employees must hold U.S. Citizenship.

Work Environment & Physical Demands: This position operates in standard Office, Assembly Laboratory, and Aboard Vessel/Shipyard environments. Standard offices and laboratories: Sitting, standing, extended periods of time using a mouse and keyboard and viewing computer screens. Movement between points within the same office or between buildings. Work is performed in generally consistent environmental conditions with some seasonality for temperature differences and lighting. In shipyards and aboard vessels: Significant use of hands to operate equipment and tools. Significant lifting of <40 lbs.; occasional lifting >40 lbs. Sitting, stooping, bending, twisting, reaching, lying prone, and squatting on a daily basis. Work is performed in highly variable work conditions to include seasonable variations in weather and temperature. High probability of working in confined spaces where movement is restricted. Dust, noise and constant activity associated with the movements of materials and people, and the fabrication of steel, including welding and the use of overhead cranes/hoists. Personal Protective Equipment: safety shoes and hard hat required; hearing protection and safety glasses recommended.
