Feldkamp Enterprises, Inc., a Marsden Company, is a trusted non-union mechanical contractor specializing in commercial and industrial HVAC installation, retrofit, and mechanical systems. Our team is growingand we're looking for Heavy Equipment Operator to join our plumbing team.
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy Equipment Operator to support our commercial mechanical and underground plumbing operations in our Columbus market. This role involves operating excavators and skid steers for trenching and site preparation, as well as assisting the plumbing team when equipment operation is not required. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate heavy equipment including excavators and skid steers for trenching, backfilling, grading, and material handling
- Perform trenching operations in accordance with project specifications and safety standards
- Assist plumbers with installation of underground piping, utilities, and related systems when not operating equipment
- Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and minor repairs on equipment to ensure safe operation
- Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures, including trench safety and equipment protocols
- Read and interpret site plans, grade stakes, and utility markings
- Maintain a clean and organized job site
- Communicate effectively with crew members, supervisors, and site personnel
Qualifications:
- Proven experience operating excavators and skid steers in a construction environment
- Demonstrated ability to trench safely and efficiently
- Valid certification or license to operate heavy equipment (as required by state/local regulations)
- Basic understanding of underground plumbing systems (preferred)
- Ability to assist with manual labor and plumbing tasks as needed
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift up to 60lbs
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with a commercial mechanical contractor
- Plumbing or underground utility installation experience
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification

Schedule
- Full-time, exempt, 40 hours/week
- Typical workday is 7:00am 3:30pm
