Overview
As a member of the Procurement team, the Commodity Manager is responsible for strategic management of assigned commodities for Alliance Laundry Systems by developing and implementing commodity strategies through the analysis of current spend, selecting and managing suppliers, negotiating pricing, executing contracts and general procurement administration. The Commodity Manager role has a heavy emphasis on managing projects as a key contributor to our Value Enhancement program.
Responsibilities
Primary duties:Implements cost, delivery, and quality improvement programs in the procurement of Indirect Goods and ServicesManages supplier development, sourcing, relationships and contract administrationAccountable to drive and implement assigned project(s) and provide routine updates to the organization on the status of assigned projectsAccountable for ensuring all suppliers meet project schedules and work to continuously improve cost, quality and delivery requirementsIdentify poor performing suppliers and drive improvement opportunities or find alternative sourcing options to ensure uninterrupted supplyWorks on complex problems/projects where analysis of situation or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors and timely communicationConducts research to identify new sources of supply, evaluate current suppliers, prepares reports and manages supplier relationships for assigned commoditiesEnsures supplier relationships are conducted in an ethical and professional mannerFacilitates cross-functional work groups to select new suppliers using cost based methodsWorking with internal customers toward prompt resolution of opportunities/issues while exemplifying a positive customer service mentalitySecondary duties:Keeps up to date and assesses procurement trends by maintaining affiliations with successful companies who practice effective procurement management, attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional associations
Qualifications
Knowledge/Experience:Minimum of three years of experience preferably in a manufacturing environmentSAP experience preferred Skills and Abilities:Highly proficient in the use of Excel and experience with data analysisExcellent communication skillsStrong business acumenProficient investigation and research skillsExcellent material planning and inventory management skillsDemonstrated cross-functional team leadership and facilitation skillsExperience working with global suppliersExcellent project management skillsCustomer service mentality/relationship building Education:Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management or related field required.ASCM certification preferredPhysical RequirementsPosition involves sitting long periods, standing, manual dexterity, stooping, bending and minimal lifting. TravelAbility to travel domestically and internationally on an as needed basis
