Job Overview:

The Physician Contracting Officer plays a critical role in developing and implementing standardized form contracts, ensuring compliance with applicable health care regulations, maintaining fair market value FMV standards, and streamlining the end-to-end contracting process to support the organization's strategic and operational objectives.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required, JD or Master s in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field preferred
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and diligent attention to detail required
  • Proficient with relevant software critical to the job function contract management software and Excel
  • A track record of success working in an environment of collaboration, transparency, mutual respect, and shared passion for excellence and innovation
  • The ability to plan, organize, prioritize, allocate resources, and manage multiple ongoing, concurrent projects

Preferred

  • 3-5 years experience in physician contracting preferred
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and diligent attention to detail required

Essential Functions

  • Review and approve physician arrangement terms and fair market value FMV analyses for accuracy and compliance with Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, and internal policies
  • Ensure consistency, legal sufficiency, and alignment with RWJBarnabas Health s strategic goals and operational standards
  • Monitor changes in federal and state laws, regulations, and industry guidance related to physician arrangements, including Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, IRS rules, and CMS requirements
  • Collaborate with legal, compliance, physician leadership, and finance teams to create templates that reflect current laws, regulations, and industry best practices,
  • Lead initiatives to improve the physician contracting lifecycle, reduce turnaround times, and enhance transparency and accountability
  • Liaise with internal and external valuation consultants as needed to ensure compensation arrangements remain defensible and compliant
