SUMMARY
Under direction of an Asset Renewal Coordinator, Manager or Director, provides office and field support related to managing work performed by external contractors This position will require the inspection of rehab, repair and replacement work to linear assets using various methods of construction including open cut, jack and bore, pipe bursting, cured-in-place pipe, and slip lining. Applicants should be comfortable using mobile electronic devices such as phones, tablets, and laptops for execution of job responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Inspect all asset renewal construction projects.
- Enforce SD1 specifications on renewal projects.
- Follow all Collection Systems SOPs.
- Stay educated on the latest technologies regarding asset renewal techniques, including CIPP (Cured in Place Pipe).
- Review CCTV videos associated with specific renewal work orders.
- Document project activities in Lucity (SD1 data management system).
- Calculate dimensions, square footage, profile and component specifications, and material quantities, using calculator or computer.
- Read and review project design drawings to ensure conformance to specifications, determine dimensions and material requirements.
- Prepare reports and memos, as needed, to support the asset renewal program.
- Collaborate with direct supervisor to determine project details, scheduling, scope, project approach, and evaluation of field conditions.
- Make recommendations, find opportunities to improve operational efficiency and ensure conformance to design specifications and applicable codes.
- Review and analyze work orders based on priority.
- Respond to public inquiries in a professional and timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with Lucity and/or GIS is preferred.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A minimum of a high school diploma with 10 years of experience in wastewater pipeline construction or in a related area, or an associate degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering or Construction Management related degree with a minimum of 5 years experiences performing as an Engineering Technician in civil related disciplines. In addition, five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the water/wastewater field or industry, which includes experience directly related to pipeline assessment, reporting, and acquisition/archiving of data; and maintenance/repair and troubleshooting of collection systems issues; OR an equivalent combination of closely related training and work experience.
A background and knowledge of wastewater collection systems maintenance, management, repairs, rehabilitation, and replacement operations is required. The ideal candidate shall have the knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within Collections Systems Utilities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- SD1 Rules and Regulations, and specifications for construction procedures.
- Professional verbal and written communication with internal staff, elected officials, Engineers, and the general public.
- Maintenance of data archives (Lucity) and GIS libraries
- Technical report writing.
- Office procedures, methods and equipment including computer and applicable software applications.
- Applicable laws, regulations, codes, department policies, governing assigned technical duties.
- Understanding underground utility construction methods and means.
- Read plans, interpret standard drawings and specifications, survey notes, maps and reports.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and have a good driving record which permits the operation of District vehicles. Special conditions could be granted in order to satisfy the Sanitation District's insurance requirements.
