Role Purpose

The Market Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and translating market, customer, industry, and competitive data into actionable business insights that support strategic decision-making, product development, market expansion, pricing, risk management, and overall business growth.

Key Objectives of the Role
  • Provide accurate, timely, and relevant market intelligence to guide leadership decisions
  • Identify market trends, customer behavior, and growth opportunities
  • Support strategic planning, product innovation, and investment decisions
  • Enhance organizational performance through data-driven insights
Key Roles & Responsibilities 1. Market Research & Intelligence
  • Design and execute qualitative and quantitative market research studies
  • Conduct primary research (surveys, interviews, focus groups, field studies)
  • Conduct secondary research (industry reports, competitor publications, regulatory documents, databases)
  • Monitor market trends, macro-economic indicators, and industry developments
  • Analyze customer needs, preferences, pain points, and buying behavior
  • Identify new markets, segments, and product opportunities

Clear understanding of market dynamics, customer needs, and future opportunities.

2. Competitive Analysis
  • Track and analyze competitors’ products, pricing, business models, and strategies
  • Benchmark company performance against industry standards and competitors
  • Identify competitive advantages, gaps, and threats
  • Provide insights on market positioning and differentiation strategies
  • Monitor new entrants, substitute products, and disruptive innovations

3. Data Analysis & Insight Generation
  • Analyze large datasets using statistical, financial, and analytical tools
  • Interpret trends in sales performance, customer data, financial indicators, and market behavior
  • Build models, forecasts, and scenario analyses
  • Translate complex data into clear insights, implications, and recommendations
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and relevance

4. Strategy Support & Decision Advisory
  • Provide analytical input into corporate strategy, expansion plans, and innovation initiatives
  • Support new product development and go-to-market strategies
  • Identify growth drivers and operational improvement opportunities
  • Collaborate with leadership on long-term planning and scenario analysis
  • Act as a thought partner to management and cross-functional teams

5. Reporting & Presentation
  • Prepare clear, concise, and visually compelling reports and dashboards
  • Present findings to senior management and key stakeholders
  • Translate research results into actionable recommendations
  • Produce regular market intelligence reports and ad-hoc analysis
  • Tailor communication for technical and non-technical audiences

6. Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Risk, Product, Operations, and Strategy teams
  • Align research outputs with business priorities
  • Support cross-functional initiatives with data and insights
  • Manage relationships with external research vendors or consultants when needed

7. Continuous Improvement & Knowledge Management
  • Improve research methodologies and analytical frameworks
  • Maintain internal knowledge repositories and market databases

Qualifications & Skills

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in: Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Statistics, Marketing, Data Science or related field
  • Master’s degree (MBA, MSc in Economics/Finance/Analytics) – strong advantage
Experience
  • 3–7 years of relevant experience in: Business research or market research firms, Consulting, strategy, or analytics roles or Financial services (banking, microfinance, fintech, asset financing)
  • Proven experience conducting market and business research
  • Experience working with financial data and commercial decision-making
  • Exposure to emerging markets is a strong advantage
