The Associate Loan Specialist is responsible for the creation and review of various commercial loan contracts, notes, term sheets, covenants, schedules, etc. both with internal and legal counsel loan documentation for United Bankshares, Inc. this position interprets information provided by Commercial Lending Staff to ensure that appropriate documents are prepared both internal and external, and may identify discrepancies that necessitate communication with the lending staff to clarify the terms of the loan. Associate Loan Specialists are also expected to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and the completion of the commercial loans on United’s Integrated Banking System, as well as loans prepared by legal counsel.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Uses general and/or operational knowledge in support of business processes and services, including the review of loan documents, administration of system maintenance, problem research, investigations, Audit and Compliance support, and general data analysis.
• Assists Commercial Lending Staff with the assessment of internally prepared and attorney-prepared documents to ensure adherence with basic documentation requirements, proper loan approval, and the Bank’s Loan Policy and Procedures. After satisfactory review, communicates to Commercial Lending Staff, that loan documents are ready for closing and in compliance.
• Knowledgeable about software products and services used in the department; capable of assisting users, performing maintenance functions, and trouble-shooting problems.
• Reliably and accurately answers questions and provides information.
• High School diploma required.
• Minimum of two years of work experience in a banking or other professional related office environment required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products required.
• Ability to learn and operate a complex document creation system with multiple variables needed for both input and output.
• Attention to detail appropriate for transactions with multiple variables that can change from deal to deal.
• Ability to effectively interact with Lending staff and Operations management using both written and verbal communication.
• Familiarity with lending, credit policy, loan documentation, banking systems, contracts, and/or legal procedures is highly desirable.
