Role Overview: We are seeking a skilled and proactive IT Specialist to join our team. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our technology infrastructure, providing technical support to staff and participants, and contributing to the overall success of the Job Corps center. This position provides support to both our Brooklyn and South Bronx campuses.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical Support: Provide technical assistance to staff and participants regarding hardware, software, network, and system issues.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical problems, escalating complex issues to higher-level IT personnel when necessary.
  • Hardware Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain computers, laptops, printers, and other technology equipment.
  • Software Management: Install, update, and troubleshoot software applications, ensuring proper functionality and security.
  • Network Support: Assist with network setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting, including wired and wireless connections.
  • Data Security: Ensure the security of data, systems, and networks through proper user access controls and security protocols.
  • Backup and Recovery: Perform regular data backups and assist in data recovery efforts as needed.
  • Equipment Inventory: Maintain an accurate inventory of technology assets, tracking equipment status, and conducting periodic audits.
  • User Training: Provide basic training to staff and participants on technology usage and best practices.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, user guides, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Emergencies: Provide on-call support for after-hours technical emergencies if required.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with IT team members and other program departments to ensure technology needs are met.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Bachelor's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of two years of experience in IT support or a related role.
  • CompTIA A+ or similar certification is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, networking, and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to evolving technology needs.
  • Flexibility to provide occasional on-call support.
Salary: $70,000-$80,000/Yearly
