You'll own the infrastructure that powers our fintech BNPL platform. AWS, CI/CD, observability, security, databases, networking. This isn't a narrow role - and that's by design. One day you're tuning ECS clusters and planning capacity, the next you're setting up connectivity for a new credit union partner or dialing in Datadog monitors. We're a small team so the work is real and varied, and you'll have a lot of autonomy to take problems and run with them.

New financial institution partners are coming online at a clip that keeps things exciting, which means the systems underneath need to keep up. You'll work closely with our CTO and Staff Platform Engineer to make sure they do, while also taking some of the operational load off the team's plate so everyone can move faster.

The platform scales with the business. As we onboard more bank and credit union partners, the infrastructure needs to grow with us without buckling. You'll own capacity planning, right-sizing, and getting ahead of bottlenecks across ECS, RDS, and the rest of the stack before they become problems. That also means maintaining our cloud networking and VPN connectivity as new FI partners come online.

Everything is observable and someone's always on call. You'll get our Datadog monitoring to a place where the team actually trusts it. That means building out NOC dashboards, writing alerts that fire when they should, and standing up a real on-call rotation so the right person gets paged when something breaks. We have a good grip on this, but with your help, it’ll be... chef’s kiss

Engineers ship faster and more securely. You'll keep our CI/CD pipelines fast, reliable, and locked down, especially as our monorepo scales. Dev teams should be able to deploy confidently within platform standards, without waiting on us. Security is part of this too, working through vulnerability backlogs, tightening IAM, and making sure the pipeline isn't a weak point. The pipeline shouldn’t be the bottleneck… (Ha, we love a good dad joke.)

• You’ve done the job - you know it, love it, have seen it scale - and come to the table with ~6+ years of experience.

• You know AWS like the back of your hand. ECS, VPC networking, IAM, and multi-account setups. You've built and broken these things at scale and know how to make them bulletproof.

• CI/CD, IaC, and observability aren't resume filler to you. You've optimized pipelines, written Terraform or CDK, and built monitoring that actually tells you something useful before Datadog does it for you.

• You've kept databases healthy under pressure. Aurora MySQL, query tuning, reader scaling - you know the difference between a slow query and a ticking time bomb.

• You don't wait to be told what to do. You spot the problem, figure out the fix, and ship it - then tell people what you did. Low ego, high output.

• You're comfortable in the mess. Strategic infra work in the morning, triaging a vulnerability ticket in the afternoon. You get just as fired up about keeping the lights on as you do building something new.

• You're wildly curious about where the industry is going, including AI tooling, and you’ll lean into tools to make your life easier (and way more productive.)

You'll report to Eli Taylor, our CTO - a visionary builder who will ideate and whiteboard with you until your brain hurts (in the best way). You'll work closely with Scott Jackson, our Staff Platform Engineer - most dependable and calm person in the building, no matter what's on fire. This role is collaborative by nature and you'll touch almost every corner of the business.
