Job Description

Customer Support Developer (Databases)

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Customer Support Developer (Databases) in United States.

This is a highly technical customer-facing role designed for professionals who enjoy solving complex database challenges while writing production-grade code. You will support customers using modern data integration platforms across databases, warehouses, lakes, and cloud environments. Combining troubleshooting expertise with hands-on development, you will investigate connector issues, improve reliability, and contribute directly to open-source integrations. The position offers close collaboration with engineering, product, sales, and customer success teams to elevate both product quality and user experience. You will play a visible role in helping customers move mission-critical data efficiently and securely. This remote opportunity is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-moving, AI-driven, developer-first environments.

Accountabilities:
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex customer issues related to databases, connectors, replication, CDC, performance, and data movement workflows
  • Diagnose and reproduce technical issues by analyzing logs, query plans, transaction states, sync behavior, schemas, and connector configurations
  • Provide expert guidance on onboarding, authentication, SSL/SSH setup, permissions, networking, and production readiness for customer deployments
  • Contribute directly to Java/Kotlin connector codebases by fixing bugs, improving error handling, and enhancing CDC and schema evolution processes
  • Validate compatibility across supported databases, warehouses, storage platforms, and connector versions through hands-on testing
  • Partner with engineering and product teams to escalate recurring issues, advocate for feature improvements, and influence roadmap priorities
  • Support enterprise customers alongside solutions and sales teams through technical consultations and expansion opportunities
  • Build documentation, troubleshooting guides, runbooks, and scalable AI-assisted workflows to improve team efficiency and customer outcomes

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, technical support, DevOps, QA, or a related technical role
  • Strong SQL skills with practical experience analyzing query plans, performance bottlenecks, and transactional behavior
  • Proficiency in Java or Kotlin with the ability to read, write, and debug JVM-based applications
  • Hands-on experience with relational databases, data warehouses, or data lakes
  • Solid understanding of CDC, schema evolution, ETL/ELT pipelines, and data integration architectures
  • Experience troubleshooting JDBC drivers, connectivity issues, authentication, SSL, and SSH tunnels
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Self-starter mindset, adaptability, and comfort working in ambiguous, fast-paced environments
  • Flexibility to work Sun–Thu, Mon–Fri, or Tue–Sat schedules across U.S. Pacific, Mountain, or Central time zones

Benefits:

  • Fully remote position within eligible U.S. time zones
  • Opportunity to contribute to open-source products used at global scale
  • Exposure to modern data platforms, cloud ecosystems, and AI-driven workflows
  • Cross-functional collaboration with engineering, product, and go-to-market teams
  • Inclusive workplace committed to equal opportunity and accessibility
  • Strong career growth potential in a fast-scaling technology environment
  • Competitive compensation and benefits package based on experience and location.
