Performs one or more of the following procedures in the neurodiagnostic lab. Procedures include EMG, EEG, Autonomic Testing, Long-Term Monitoring LTM), Evoke Potentials, or assisting with BOTOX treatments.

I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Operates NDC equipment to record patients' brain waves or nerve impulses; monitors, records and documents all aspects of recording. Adds extra electrodes, as necessary, to determine nature of irregularity by method comparison, such as eye movements resembling brain waves, pulse, etc. Documents identifying data (bell, deep breathing, distraction, seizure and type) on tracing along with other information which may be helpful to the neurologist when reading the recording.
2. Performs special types of EEGs or Long-Term Epilepsy monitoring, and drug induced studies.
3. May perform the following Evoked Potentials, special types of EEGs or Long-Term Epilepsy monitoring and drug induced studies once deemed competent via in-house training.
4. Prepares the patient, explains the procedure, and ensures patients' cooperation during procedure.
5. Assists physician in preparing and positioning patients for BOTOX including accurate documentation of procedure once deemed competent via in-house training.
6. Assists in trouble shooting malfunctioning or inoperative equipment, carries out testing procedures, and replaces modular parts. Obtains assistance in maintenance of equipment from Biomedical Engineering.
7. Provides on call and weekend coverage as assigned.
8. Performs other related clerical and technical duties in the lab when necessary.
9. May provide technical training and technical assistance to non-registered techs or tech students as assigned.

6. Maintains regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
7. Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.

II. Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. High School diploma or equivalent.
2. Registered in Nerve Conduction Testing through qualified organizations such as AAET or ABEM.
3. Must become board certified in major field of testing within three years of employment as a condition of employment.
4. BLS certified.

Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. One year of experience in a clinic or inpatient setting.
2. Strong oral and written communication skills to interact with staff, physicians and patients.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.

III. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:
Work is considered sedentary. Position requires work indoors in a normal patient care environment.
