This role is ideal for a proactive health, safety, and environmental leader who thrives in a dynamic manufacturing environment. You will oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of HSE programs across multiple sites in North America. The position requires strong leadership to build a positive safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive measurable HSE performance improvements. You will engage with plant teams, senior management, and external stakeholders to identify risks, implement corrective actions, and promote best practices. This is a hands-on role with a blend of strategic planning, coaching, and operational oversight, providing an opportunity to make a direct impact on employee safety and organizational success. The role also includes oversight of HSE budgets, incident investigations, and cross-functional collaboration to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Implement, manage, and monitor HSE programs to ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations across all operational sites.
- Communicate policies, training programs, and corrective action plans to employees, plant teams, and site committees.
- Direct incident investigations, lost-time prevention initiatives, and recommend process improvements to reduce injuries and enhance safety performance.
- Maintain positive relationships with external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, insurance carriers, and consultants.
- Develop, deploy, and track HSE communications and initiatives to support a strong safety culture.
- Coach, mentor, and guide HSE teams and operational personnel on safety practices and compliance requirements.
- Analyze HSE incident data to identify trends, recommend solutions, and report key performance metrics to senior leadership.
- 7–10 years of experience in HSE within continuous manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Proven track record of measurable results in HSE performance and compliance auditing.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and change management capabilities to influence teams at all levels.
- Strategic thinking with the ability to set HSE goals, KPIs, and execute programs effectively.
- In-depth knowledge of North American occupational health and safety legislation, including OSHA, CSA, ANSI, Fire Code, and workers compensation standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with operational leaders and cross-functional teams.
- Project management experience from planning to completion, including managing budgets and capital HSE initiatives.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and general computer literacy.
