The Diesel Mechanic / Sandcat Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing AES Completion Services equipment. This includes heavy vehicles, Sandcat units, mixing plants, trailers, forklifts, chemical injection units, and other related equipment.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections and diagnostics to determine overhaul or repair needs for diesel engines (including John Deere 4045 Tier1-Tier3 & Deutz 913), transmissions, clutches, components, electrical, and fuel systems for AES Completion Services equipment like Sandcat, Sandcat II, mixing plants, light plants, chemical injection units, and forklifts.
- Remove, install, diagnose, repair, disassemble, and assemble parts and components on all completions equipment, heavy vehicles, tractor trailers, and forklifts.
- Perform tune-ups, brake jobs, and routine preventive maintenance on mixing plants, light plants, trailers, chemical injection units, and forklifts to maximize equipment lifespan and operational efficiency.
- Provide rapid, onsite emergency diagnostics and repair services to support mixing plant operators during equipment breakdowns, minimizing downtime and maintaining productivity.
- Coordinate and schedule vehicles and equipment for third-party repairs as needed, tracking and communicating the scope of work, costs, and timelines to management.
- Monitor and document all equipment repairs and maintenance activities in strict accordance with company procedures, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
- Prepare and submit weekly electronic reports, maintaining accessibility and transparency for management review.
- Verify equipment performance by conducting functional tests and adjusting Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) for Sandcat II and automated chemical injection unit systems.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state vehicle regulations by testing engines, safety systems, and combustion controls to meet all required standards.
- Identify and recommend replacement parts for vehicles, machinery, and other company equipment; research procurement options and place purchase orders as necessary.
- Contains costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
- Performs all duties safely in accordance with Company procedures and applicable safety requirement.
- Execute additional duties as assigned by the Completions Engineering and Division Manager of Completion Services, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to team objectives.
- High school diploma or GED; Technical Degree in Diesel Engine Repair is required
- Five (5) to ten (10) years of prior relevant work experience as a diesel mechanic is required
- Prior work experience in the oil and gas industry would be highly advantageous.
- Forklift operator certification is essential.
- Valid driver’s license and the maintenance of a driving record satisfactory to AES.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Proven experience servicing and maintaining diesel engines, Sandcat units, mixing plants, trailers, forklifts, and mechanical equipment.
- Ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot vehicles, machinery, and mechanical equipment used by AES Completion Services; utilize power and manual tools required for the position.
- Knowledge of mechanical equipment design and general maintenance techniques.
- Superior trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with a wide variety of audiences.
- Highly self-motivated and self-managed.
- Willingness and aptitude to learn unfamiliar mechanical equipment, tools, and machinery and to stay informed of new technologies.
