Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Environmental Technician II in Port Hueneme, CA.
Job Summary: This role ensures NSWC PHD maintains compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, permits, and applicable Navy instructions/policies
Duties and Responsibilities:
-Provide support for managing the NSWC PHD Environmental Management System and Environmental Coordinator Program.
-Provide support for managing the NSWC PHD Hazardous Materials Management & Control Program.
-Provide support for managing the NSWC PHD Hazardous Waste Disposal Program.
-Provide support for managing the NSWC PHD Oil & Hazardous Substances Spill Response Program.
-Provide support for managing NSWC PHD mission aspects involving natural resources, pests, birds, wildlife, or marine mammals.
-Provide support with completing environmental impact analysis for preparation of NEPA documents.
-Monitor facility projects to ensure compliance with completed NEPA documentation requirements and impact avoidance measures.
-Perform routine environmental compliance inspections of NSWC PHD facilities, sites, and/or ships.
-Assist with the preparation of the internal environmental self-assessment report documentation of NSWC PHD sites and detachments.
-Document inspection/audit findings, conduct root cause analysis, develop corrective/preventive actions, and monitor the correction status of non-compliance findings
-Review regional/host installation policies, procedures, plans, guides, and permits to ensure NSWC PHD activities are compliant.
-Assist in developing standard forms or checklists for NSWC PHD environmental programs.
-Develop metrics measuring the environmental performance of NSWC PHD.
-Assist in maintaining the Code 1023-Environmental Branch internal SharePoint/website.
-Provide records management support for Code 1023-Environmental Branch.
-Provide support in conducting environmental community outreach and educational events for the command (ex. Earth Day).
-Attend meetings scheduled by Code 1023/1024 Branch, Code 102 Division, PHD Departments/Codes, Host Installation Environmental, and NAVSEA HQ Environmental Working Groups as needed.
-Assist in developing and delivering environmental-related training to NSWC PHD (ex. New Hire Orientation Environmental Awareness, quarterly environmental coordinator training, and other environmental-related training for different program media outlined in OPNAV 5090.1).
-Complete the Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) initial training (minimum 24-hour) and annual refresher training (8-hour).
-Complete all other required environmental trainings assigned by Code 1023-Environmental Branch.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related technical field.
Three (3) years’ experience executing functions as part of the Environmental Protection Agency, ensuring compliance with laws such as the National Environmental Policy Act, Department of Transportation, Toxic Substance Control Act, Hazardous Materials, Hazardous Waste, Clean Water Act, and Clean Air Act requirements is preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written formats.
Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
Pursuant to the various government contractual requirements, all applicants must be U.S. citizens.
Skilled in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite
Pay Range:
The pay range for this role is $25.00 - $30.35 Hourly. This is a reasonable estimate for this role. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors, including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
