Manager of Student Accounts/Accounts Receivable at Central College – PELLA, Iowa
About This Position
This role oversees all of the college accounts receivable processes which primarily include billing, tuition collection, financial recordkeeping, and payment processing while ensuring compliance with institutional policies and applicable regulations. The manager of student accounts and accounts receivable works closely with students, families, and internal departments to support accurate financial communication and excellent customer service
Essential Job Responsibilities
· Oversee the creation, distribution, and management of student tuition and fee statements.
· Assess, bill, and collect all areas of the receivable process including but not limited to on campus tuition, special off-campus programs, and summer school, based on college policy.
· Responsible for collections on all balances owed to the college; including but not limited to tuition, rent, and events services.
· In collaboration with an external partner, reconcile and manage the college loan process.
· Responsible for set up and maintenance of tuition, room, and board billing rate tables.
· Complete daily & weekly downloads and reconciliation of online payments for all campus activities, including but not limited to student accounts, food service, spirit shoppe, and camps.
· Review student accounts for delinquency and determine reason for outstanding balances. Contact students to offer assistance regarding payment methods and loan availability and review with director of accounting and registrar any cases that could justify denial of registration.
· Oversee cash handling, reconciliation and audit processes.
· Serve as the main point of contact for student account inquiries and provide guidance on payment options, billing questions, and financial literacy.
· Prepare 1098T and 1042-S forms and ensure appropriate distribution in compliance with regulations.
· Move financial aid onto student accounts and confirm direct loan funds.
· Develop and implement billing and collection policies and procedures while also recommending improvements to financial systems and processes.
· Monitor and enforce institutional policies concerning tuition and fees.
· Collaborate with Financial Aid, Registrar and other functions at the college.
· Present at student orientation and in other forums around the tuition and collections process.
· Other duties as defined within the business office in support of the overall financial operations of the college.

Requirements:· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business management or related field.
· 5-8 years experience in financial operations, accounting, or student financial services.
· Strong knowledge of financial regulations.
· Proficiency with financial software and student information systems.
· Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
· Demonstrates a strong sense of curiosity and seeks to understand problems, processes, and perspectives at a deeper level.
· Proactively asks questions to uncover root causes, opportunities, and new ideas.
· Learns quickly when facing new situations and can adapt knowledge to unfamiliar challenges.
