JOB TITLE: Crater

JOB SUMMARY: Fabricates wooden crates or boxes using woodworking hand tools and powered tools, and packs various items including large and/or odd shaped products. May read blueprints, shipping notices, and other specifications, and inspects product to determine size and shape of container, materials to be used, and types of supports and braces to be used. Responsible for loading and unloading trucks using overhead crane, forklift, and/or pallet jack.

Job Responsibilities:

Lays out dimensions on materials
Saws materials to size, using handsaws and power saws
Assembles materials, using nail guns, staple guns, hammers and nails, screws, bolts and other various products
Bolts heavy pieces to bottom of container or skid
Secures product with various materials including wood, plastic wrap or other packing material
Weigh loaded crates
May move container to shipping area, move lumber, paper and other crating supplies.
Loads and unloads trucks

Qualifications:

Must possess sufficient interpersonal skills to interact effectively with persons inside and outside of the company.
Must be able to work under stress.
Must be able to handle multiple priorities.
Must be able to process paperwork effectively.

What will put you ahead:

Previous crating experience is a plus
Experience measuring, cutting and assembling large items made of wood
MS Office experience is a plus
Experience tracking and processing shipments is a plus

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to go up and down stairs.
Must be able to communicate effectively.
Must have physical stamina to stand, stoop, bend, squat and kneel eight (8) or more hours per day.
Must be able to frequently lift 50lbs or more.
Must possess sufficient visual acuity, depth perception, and color vision to accomplish job tasks.
Must be able to tolerate shop environment and exposures associated with welding and industrial equipment manufacturing, and apply appropriate safety equipment as required.
Must not present a risk of injury to self or others while engaged in company duties.
Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
