Job Description:
Come join the Chesapeake Police Department as a Police Information Associate and play an important role in supporting both our officers and the community we serve. This position is essential to daily operations and serves as a key point of contact for citizens seeking assistance and information.
Key Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct transactions with the public, providing general information and referring individuals to appropriate police sections and/or units.
- Provide information regarding related City services and direct individuals to the appropriate City agency for additional assistance.
- Post and maintain accurate entries in logbooks.
- Receive telephone and in-person complaints and prepare Police Offense Reports in accordance with department procedures.
- Sort and distribute paperwork to appropriate offices and personnel.
- Monitor security camera systems and notify dispatchers of suspected security breaches or unusual incidents.
- Prepare and type fingerprint cards as required.
- Maintain control and tracking of subpoenas, including logging receipt and issuance.
- Maintain custody and accountability of keys, equipment, and related logbooks.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
This position requires strong customer service skills, attention to detail, discretion in handling sensitive information, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced law enforcement environment.
Required Qualifications:
VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Requires high school diploma or GED and any combination of education and experience equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education in clerical skills, or a closely related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this position requires a minimum of six months of related, full-time equivalent experience.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
Required to pass a Police background investigation, pre-employment polygraph examination and a drug screen.
Requires high school diploma or GED and any combination of education and experience equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education in clerical skills, or a closely related field.
