About this Location:
The Renaissance Asheville is a 278 room hotel located in the heart of downtown Asheville, with plenty of greenscapes and sweeping views of the Smoky Mountains. The Blue Ridge Mountains are the perfect backdrop to explore North Carolina's best kept secret. We welcome guests to discover the unexpected as they journey through our neighborhood.
Why do we need you?
To act as the direct supervisor of our AV Technicians, including scheduling, training, and AV system setup oversight. Candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of audio-visual systems. This role combines technical expertise in AV equipment with a strong understanding of IT infrastructure to support seamless communication, presentations, and events.
What you will do:
- Schedule event AV technicians to satisfy a busy conference schedule.
- Set up, configure, and operate AV equipment for meetings, events, and conferences, including projectors, microphones, speakers, video conferencing systems, and digital displays.
- Troubleshoot AV issues, ensuring minimal disruption during live events.
- Maintain and upgrade AV systems to meet evolving organizational needs.
- Perform regular maintenance and updates on AV systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Monitor system performance and proactively address potential issues.
- Collaborate with vendors for the repair and upgrade of AV equipment.
- Maintain accurate documentation of AV setups, configurations, and troubleshooting processes.
- Provide training and support to technicians on using AV systems.
- Work closely with the Director of AV to design and implement efficiency and training protocols.
- Deliver excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
- Use good communication skills with employees and guests.
Skills and abilities you bring:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in information technology, Audio-Visual Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience) highly preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in AV/IT support, preferably in a corporate and events environment.
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting AV equipment, including projectors, sound systems, and video conferencing tools (e.g., Zoom, Teams).
- Knowledge of networking principles, including IP configuration and wireless networking.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues under time-sensitive conditions.
- Ability to work a cloud-based IT Helpdesk ticketing system.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications including Office and MS Teams.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in high-pressure environments.
- Ability to travel between company locations or off-site events as required.
Schedule & Hours: This is a full time position, working variable hours. Flexible work schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed for events.
Physical Demands: Medium work. Exerting up to 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree, and or requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
