The Opportunity

Manage Multi-Division Accounting & Growth.

Major Contracting is seeking a highly skilled Senior Full Charge Bookkeeper to serve as the financial backbone of our rapidly expanding civil construction firm. In this critical onsite role in Detroit, you will oversee the entire accounting lifecycle for our diverse service divisions, including civil construction, utilities, and sitework.

This role offers the autonomy to manage complex job costing and the chance to drive fiscal accuracy for high-impact infrastructure projects. If you are a self-driven accounting professional looking to join a supportive leadership team where your expertise directly contributes to the long-term scaling of an organization, we want you to take the reins of our financials.

What You Will Be Doing

You will be the vital link between our field operations and our financial health, ensuring absolute transparency and steady cash flow across all operations:

  • Full-Cycle Accounting: Administer all full-cycle bookkeeping processes, including meticulous accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and general ledger (GL) maintenance.
  • Job Costing & Budgets: Analyze and track complex job costing and project-related expenses to ensure highly accurate budget management for multi-division projects.
  • Executive Reporting: Prepare comprehensive monthly financial statements and management reports to guide executive decision-making.
  • CPA Coordination: Coordinate seamlessly with external CPA partners to facilitate quarterly reporting, year-end closing, and precise tax preparation.
  • Reconciliations & Cash Flow: Perform meticulous bank and credit card reconciliations to maintain absolute financial transparency. Execute weekly payroll support and process invoices to maintain steady cash flow.
  • Compliance: Develop and maintain organized financial documentation in strict compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
What You Need to Succeed (Qualifications)
  • Experience: A minimum of 8 years of proven experience as a Full Charge Bookkeeper or in a senior accounting role.
  • Technical Mastery: Advanced, highly proficient skills in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel are strictly required.
  • Industry Knowledge (Preferred): Previous accounting experience within the construction, industrial, or service-based sectors is a massive plus! Specialized knowledge of multi-division/project-based accounting, soft surface restoration, and managing records for Prevailing Wage projects is highly preferred.
  • Mindset: Strong organizational skills with the proven ability to work independently with minimal oversight in a fast-paced environment.
  • Education: A Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred (but your proven hands-on experience matters most).
Compensation & Premium Benefits

We provide the stability and benefits you need to build a long-term career:

  • Top-Tier Pay: A competitive $75,000 $85,000 annual salary strictly based on your experience, paid on a reliable weekly pay cycle.
  • Financial Growth: A lucrative Year-End Bonus program and a Retirement Savings Program.
  • Health & Wellness: Comprehensive Health Insurance (Medical, Dental, and Vision), plus Health Savings Account (HSA) and Life/Disability Insurance options.
  • Work-Life Balance: Generous Paid Time Off (PTO), including Holidays, Vacation, and Sick leave on a standard MondayFriday schedule.
  • Career Development: Access to paid training, certifications, and high-level mentorship programs.
