This role leads transportation operations for a high-volume, multi-site logistics network, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and safety across all delivery channels. The Senior Manager will oversee drivers, fleet, and transportation systems, implementing data-driven strategies to optimize routes, improve on-time performance, and maintain compliance with regulations. Collaborating closely with supply chain, fulfillment, customer service, and technology teams, this position drives continuous improvement in operational processes and service quality. The role offers a fully remote work environment with travel to facilities as needed, allowing hands-on leadership and coaching. Success in this role is measured by operational excellence, team performance, and customer satisfaction.
- Build and optimize a hub-and-spoke transportation network, including facilities, personnel, and operational processes
- Lead and serve as primary contact for local delivery management, drivers, fleet operations, transportation software, and inter-departmental transfers
- Train and mentor drivers and operations staff on compliance, safety standards, and company policies
- Develop and manage preventive maintenance schedules to ensure vehicle reliability and longevity
- Monitor and enforce regulatory and safety compliance, maintaining accurate records for audits and inspections
- Define performance metrics, analyze data, and implement improvements to maximize efficiency and on-time delivery
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure contracts, pricing, and operations meet business goals
- Escalate operational issues, drive resolutions, and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, or Transportation Management preferred
- 7–10 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain management
- Knowledge of routing software, telematics, and fleet management systems
- Understanding of DOT regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to improve operational performance
- Excellent problem-solving, time management, multi-tasking, and communication skills
- Experience leading teams, training staff, and managing multiple distribution centers
- Ability to travel to facilities for coaching, hiring, and operational oversight as needed
