Position Overview
The Building Facilities Supervisor oversees the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of the hotel's building systems and physical assets. This role supervises facilities and maintenance staff, ensures safe and efficient building operations, and maintains compliance with safety standards, brand requirements, and regulatory guidelines. The Building Facilities Supervisor plays a critical role in preserving the hotel's infrastructure and supporting uninterrupted guest and business operations within a full-service hotel environment.
What You'll Do
Facilities & Building Operations
- Supervise daily building maintenance operations including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and general repairs.
- Ensure hotel facilities, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and exterior grounds are properly maintained.
- Conduct routine inspections of building systems and physical assets.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests, emergencies, and operational issues.
Team Supervision & Leadership
- Supervise, train, coach, and schedule facilities and maintenance team members.
- Assign daily work orders and ensure tasks are completed accurately and timely.
- Monitor team performance and provide guidance and corrective action as needed.
- Assist with onboarding, training, and performance documentation.
Preventive Maintenance & Compliance
- Oversee preventive maintenance programs to extend asset life and minimize downtime.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, OSHA standards, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and inspection records.
- Support audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.
Safety, Risk & Emergency Response
- Enforce safety procedures and proper use of tools and equipment.
- Respond to building emergencies such as power outages, water leaks, or system failures.
- Support fire life safety systems, emergency preparedness, and response plans.
- Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards throughout the property.
Vendor & Project Coordination
- Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and services.
- Monitor vendor performance and ensure work meets hotel standards.
- Assist with small renovation projects and facility upgrades.
- Support capital improvement initiatives as directed.
Collaboration & Communication
- Communicate effectively with hotel leadership and department managers.
- Coordinate maintenance needs with Housekeeping, Front Office, and Operations.
- Provide status updates on projects, repairs, and operational issues.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with inventory control of maintenance supplies and equipment.
- Support budget control efforts related to maintenance expenses.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support hotel operations.
- Maintain reliable and consistent attendance as an essential function of the job.
What You'll Bring
Required Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred Education & Experience
- Facilities, building maintenance, or engineering experience preferred.
- Supervisory or lead experience preferred.
- Experience working in hotels, commercial buildings, or similar environments preferred.
- Technical training or certifications in building systems preferred.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical.
- Ability to read work orders, manuals, and technical documentation.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations as needed.
