This is a high-impact opportunity to contribute to the evolution of a modern interoperability platform within the healthcare technology space. In this role, you will design and build scalable backend systems that enable secure, compliant, and efficient access to patient data across complex ecosystems. You’ll work at the intersection of modern services and legacy integrations, tackling real-world challenges related to data exchange, reliability, and performance. The environment is collaborative, fast-moving, and innovation-driven, with strong emphasis on ownership and technical influence. You will play a key role in shaping architecture and driving modernization initiatives while leveraging AI-assisted development as part of your daily workflow. This is an ideal role for someone who thrives in ambiguity and enjoys building meaningful solutions at scale.

Accountabilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs to retrieve, process, and deliver patient data using interoperability standards such as FHIR
  • Build and enhance workflows supporting data exchange processes, including identity matching, record discovery, and data delivery
  • Integrate with external healthcare systems, EHR platforms, and third-party services using RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures
  • Modernize legacy systems and contribute to the evolution of scalable, reliable service architecture
  • Own technical direction and roadmap for interoperability components, balancing performance, compliance, and scalability
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, debugging, and refactoring while ensuring code quality and reliability
  • Lead code reviews, enforce engineering best practices, and ensure high standards for testing and observability
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across distributed systems and external integrations
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, operations, and compliance teams to translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with increasing scope and complexity
  • Strong expertise in Microsoft technologies including C#, .NET (Framework and .NET 6+), ASP.NET Web API, MVC, Entity Framework, and SQL Server
  • Proven experience building and operating distributed, API-driven systems in production environments
  • Hands-on experience with healthcare interoperability standards, especially FHIR-based integrations
  • Solid understanding of data modeling, SQL optimization, and consistency in integration-heavy systems
  • Experience integrating third-party systems with a focus on reliability, error handling, and observability
  • Strong knowledge of automated testing practices across unit, integration, and end-to-end levels
  • Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
  • Active use of AI coding tools as part of a daily development workflow, with the ability to critically assess generated code
  • Strong problem-solving skills, communication abilities, and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary aligned with experience and market standards
  • Fully remote work environment with flexible scheduling
  • Opportunity to work on impactful, real-world healthcare technology challenges
  • High level of ownership and influence over technical decisions and architecture
  • Collaborative, small-team environment where contributions are visible and valued
  • Exposure to cutting-edge interoperability standards and modern system design
  • Strong culture focused on outcomes, innovation, and continuous learning
  • Access to AI-powered development tools as a core part of engineering practices
  • Career growth opportunities in a rapidly evolving technical landscape
