THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking an experienced Manager, Domestic Freight Forwarding, to lead our domestic freight forwarding team and drive efficiency.
This position will lead the daily operations of BBE’s Domestic Freight Forwarding business and is accountable for the performance, development and engagement of the team. This role connects BBE’s supply chain network of shippers, carriers, warehouses, and suppliers through reliable, well-executed transportation and logistics solutions.
In addition to operational leadership, this position is responsible for achieving the financial targets of the branch. This includes driving revenue growth, managing costs and margins, and ensuring the branch operates within approved budgets while delivering high-quality service to clients.
While Edmonton is the preferred location, BBE is open to qualified candidates across Canada.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Promote, support, and encourage BBE’s vision, mission, and values.
- Understand freight forwarding operations' critical control points procedures.
- Make business decisions that are financially responsible, accountable, justifiable, and defensible in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Own and deliver branch financial targets, including revenue, gross margins, and cost controls.
- Development of an employee-oriented company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, key employee retention, development, and high performance.
- Set clear expectations, objectives, and performance standards for team members.
- Resolve operational issues and exceptions proactively, minimizing service disruptions and client impact.
- Continuously review workflows and processes to improve efficiency, service, quality, and scalability.
- Monitor pricing, margins, and lane profitability to ensure commercial discipline in quoting and execution.
- Support business development efforts by providing operational insight, pricing guidance, and feasibility assessments for new opportunities.
- Support employee development through training, feedback, and succession planning.
- Maintaining strong relationships with customers, carriers, agents, and other supply chain partners.
- Act as a senior point of escalation for key customers and complex or time-sensitive shipments.
- Ensure service delivery aligns with customer expectations and contractual commitments.
- Promote a solution-oriented approach that balances customer needs with operational and financial realities.
- Work closely with other leadership teams to ensure alignment.
- Participate in strategic initiatives that support overall company growth and operational excellence.
CORPORATE COMPLIANCE DUTIES
- Actively participate in QHSETR programs and systems.
- Contribute to and foster transparent, direct communication, education, and customer service enhancement with the operations team and clients.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration or related field is preferred or an equivalent combination of education and significant freight forwarding or logistics experience.
- CIFFA Advanced Certificate is preferred.
- 3+ years of supervisory/management experience is preferred.
- Exercise sound judgement and emotional awareness when addressing complex people matters, fostering a psychologically safe and respectful work environment.
- Knowledge of supply chain challenges in Northern/Remote locations in Canada is considered an asset.
- International Freight Forwarding knowledge is an asset.
- Modes of transport used in North American supply chains are required.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional internal and external customer service.
- Excellent team player, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
