About This Position
Transportation Manager
Manages and coordinates the daily operations of a transportation network including safety, compliance, equipment, and staff. Implements operational policies and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency in all transportation activities. Monitors transportation costs, service level agreements, and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems and achieve efficiencies. Partners with internal and external stakeholders to meet forecasted capacity needs. Manages relations with customers to ensure the achievement of required service levels. Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct Management of all DSD (Direct Store Delivery) operations
Manage all drivers and staff
Scheduling all staff accordingly
Maintain effective communications with all customers
Responsible for maintaining DSD fleet for operation and safety
Be proactive with customers, identify and prevent issues from becoming a problem
Consult with HR on the resolution of difficult employee relations issues and provide strong direction on counseling, termination, policy interpretation, and general HR issues and decisions based on knowledge of employment laws.
Proactively identify and correct unsafe conditions, work processes, and behaviors.
Proactively monitor and correct all unsafe driver related behaviors working directly with the Safety Manager
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• High school graduate or equivalent. associate or bachelor's degree (preferred)
• Working knowledge of office equipment (computer systems, phones, printers, etc.)
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
• Excellent time management and prioritization skills
• Excellent communication skills and customer service background.
• Willingness to travel as needed
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in Management and/or team leadership
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Must be able to work weekends and holidays as needed.
• Demonstrated good decision making and problem-solving skills.
