POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Area Manager supports the day‑to‑day operational management and continuity of security services for assigned accounts or geographic areas. Reporting directly to the Area Manager, This position assists with oversight of shift supervisors and armed security officers, helping ensure consistent execution of security operations across all assigned locations.

The Assistant Area Manager functions as a primary operational authority, focusing on scheduling accuracy, staffing stability, supervisory performance, and compliance with company policies and client requirements. This role requires strong organizational skills, operational judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in fast‑paced environments. The Assistant Area Manager also serves as the acting operational leader in the absence of the Area Manager, exercising delegated authority to maintain operational continuity and decision‑making.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist with overall scheduling across all assigned sites within the area, helping ensure consistent coverage and operational readiness.
  • Provide operational support under the management of the Area Manager.
  • Regularly apprise the Area Manager of overall scheduling strategy, staffing levels, and coverage models, enabling the Area Manager to make informed decisions and coordinate with Operations and Corporate support functions, including Human Resources and Recruitment.
  • Ensure schedule accuracy, including proper tracking and documentation of PTO, true dark time, approved time off, and other leave types.
  • Resolve daily staffing issues, including call‑outs, vacancies, and last‑minute coverage needs.
  • Oversee timecard review and approval processes, ensuring accuracy and timely submission in accordance with established payroll deadlines.
  • Review incident reports, daily logs, and operational documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance, preparing materials for escalation to the Area Manager asrequired.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, guidance, and corrective feedback to supervisory and lead personnel to maintain performance standards.
  • Assist with investigations, disciplinary documentation, and corrective action processes as directed by the Area Manager.
  • Act in place of the Area Manager during the Area Manager’s absence, maintaining operational authority, continuity, and decision‑making.
  • Support incident response and emergency operations as required.
  • Identify developing operational risks, performance trends, and staffing concerns and promptly communicate findings to the Area Manager.
  • Maintain effective and professional communication with Operations, Recruitment, administrative staff, and field leadership.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WORK SCHEDULE AND ENVIRONMENT

Full-time position consisting of afternoon or swing shift schedule starting possibly as early as 1000 hours and going possibly as late as 0000 hours, including weekend coverage. Schedule adjustments may be made as required to maintain adequate coverage and support ongoing operations as deemed necessary by the Area Manager. Occasional extended hours may be necessary to meet operational or payroll deadlines.

The role is based on site with frequent phone and computer use and may require occasional travel between sites or to company meetings.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Minimum 1year of experience in security operations, law enforcement, military service, or a closely related operational environment recommended.
  • Minimum 2years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role, such as Shift Supervisor, Site Supervisor, Team Lead, or equivalent field leadership position recommended.
  • Demonstrated experience handling operational duties, including staffing coordination, scheduling, incident response, and documentation.
  • Proven ability to provide direct oversight and leadership to supervisors and lead personnel in a fast‑paced, high‑responsibility environment.
  • Strong organizational and schedule management skills, with the ability to manage multiple sites, shifts, and coverage requirements simultaneously.
  • Working knowledge of timekeeping, payroll workflows, and approval deadlines, with the ability to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment under pressure, prioritize competing demands, and make timely operational decisions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear reports and communicate expectations to supervisory staff.
  • High level of proficiency working on a computer in a fast‑paced environment, including frequent use of scheduling systems, reporting platforms, email, and standard office software.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software programs, security technology, and operational systems as required.
  • Ability to identify operational risks, performance trends, and staffing concerns, and communicate findings clearly to leadership.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to handle stressful or confrontational situations with calmness and professionalism.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as operationally required.
