Operating Room Nurse Immersion Program
Shore Medical Center is partnering with Rutgers School of Nursing to facilitate the transition of Registered Nurses into the Operating Room. This is a career opportunity for Shore's nurses who have wanted to transition into the Operating Room. This 10-week course has classes scheduled for 5 days a week, 8 hours a day, sometimes on Saturdays, at the Rutgers Center for Professional Development. The comprehensive instruction includes classroom meetings, online interactive lectures, virtual AORN PeriOp 101 modules, technical skills' lab, and simulation cases. Following the completion of the course, candidates will then have clinical training in the SMC Operating Room. Upon completion of the program, nurses will be required to continue their service at SMC for a period of 2 years.

For consideration to the program, candidates must meet the following requirements:
• Valid NJ RN license
• Applicants will be required to submit an essay identifying why they should be selected into the program
• All selected applicants will be required to sign a binding agreement of a two year service commitment to SMC with a monetary penalty
• After completion of the program candidates will be required to take on-call rotation, which includes weekends, evenings, nights, and holidays

For Internal SMC Employees:
• Must have a minimum of 1040 hours worked in current position at SMC at time of application
• No corrective action for at least one year

Preferred
• BSN
• Active involvement in SMC Unit Based council or SMC committee (for internal SMC candidates)

Salary Range - $39.61 - $51.75 hourly (Based on experience)
