This is a key technical role focused on optimizing and scaling enterprise-grade Jira environments across global teams. You will take ownership of Jira Cloud and Server instances, ensuring performance, reliability, and seamless integration with the broader engineering ecosystem. Beyond administration, youll contribute through scripting, automation, and infrastructure optimization to enhance efficiency and governance. Working in a distributed, fast-paced environment, you will collaborate closely with engineering, DevOps, and business teams to design scalable workflows and maintain system standards. The role blends platform ownership, development, and internal consultingideal for someone who enjoys both technical depth and cross-functional impact. Accountabilities:- Administer and optimize Jira Cloud, Jira Server/Data Center, and Confluence environments, including workflows, schemes, permissions, roles, and user management.
- Manage integrations with directories (AD/IdP), SSO configurations, and user/group structures to ensure secure and efficient access control.
- Monitor and improve Jira performance and reliability, analyzing bottlenecks related to databases, indexing, plugins, and custom fields.
- Configure monitoring systems to track uptime, latency, error rates, and system health metrics.
- Design and implement automation solutions using Jira Automation, ScriptRunner, and custom scripts in Groovy or Python.
- Develop and maintain REST API integrations with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools, and internal platforms.
- Establish and enforce Jira configuration standards, governance policies, and upgrade strategies for plugins and platform versions.
- Gather business requirements, design scalable Jira solutions, and provide internal consulting and advanced troubleshooting support.
Requirements:
- Strong hands-on experience with Jira Software (Cloud and Server/Data Center), including workflows, boards, schemes, and advanced JQL.
- Experience with Jira Service Management (queues, SLAs, request types) is preferred.
- Solid knowledge of the Atlassian ecosystem, including Confluence, Bitbucket, and IdP/LDAP integrations (SSO, group synchronization).
- Proficiency in Groovy (ScriptRunner: post-functions, listeners, scheduled jobs) and Python (utilities, migrations, bulk operations, integrations).
- Experience working with Jira/Atlassian REST APIs, including authentication, pagination, and rate limits.
- Understanding of performance and SRE concepts such as SLI/SLO/SLA, latency management, error rates, logs, and metrics.
- Familiarity with Linux systems and Jira-supported databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server).
- Experience integrating Jira with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub, Bitbucket) and event-driven systems via webhooks.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to support complex scenarios across distributed teams.
