Sales Yard Customer Service Representative--Sesonal at Midwest Groundcovers LLC – Saint Charles, Illinois

OBJECTIVE / ACCOUNTABILITY

The Sales Yard Customer Service Rep is responsible for being customer service oriented while supporting the daily operations of the Sales Yard, which includes Wholesale and UPICK. This role combines customer sales, order processing, plant care, and yard loading operations to ensure an exceptional customer experience and assist in the achieving of department sales goals. The position works collaboratively across departments to support Midwest Groundcovers and Midwest Trading initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales & Customer Service Responsibilities

• Sell and promote Midwest Groundcovers products and services in the Wholesale Office and in the UPICK Yard.
• Provide excellent customer service in person, by phone, and via email.
• Enter orders and quotes in Business Central accurately and efficiently.
• Understand and communicate pricing, inventory availability, and credit policies.
• Communicate order readiness and coordinate paperwork flow to appropriate departments.
• Support overstock sales and promotional initiatives through plant and product offerings throughout the season.
• Assist in opening and closing duties in the Wholesale/U-Pick Process.
• Learn Midwest Trading order entry processes and product knowledge to support sales team.

Order Holding Yard & Loading Operations

• Support order loading for customers, pulling, and staging items in yard for customer efficiency.
• Assemble and prepare U-Pick pickup orders to meet customer expectations.
• Safely load and unload plant material in Order Holding Yard.
• Unloading shipping racks in the U-Pick yard and assembling plants in efficient order.
• Operate equipment such as tree loaders, tractors, and can carriers (with certification and training).
• Support order holding area and U-Pick with maintenance and plant care.
• Regularly audit sales yard and report on outstanding orders awaiting pick up.

Safety Responsibilities

• Attend regular tailgate safety training (once per month).
• Maintain a safe and clean work area.
• Strive to achieve an accident-free work record for the area each year.
• Actively participate in following safety policies.

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCES

• High school diploma required
• Interest in growth within Green Industry
• Experience with plant care or customer service is a plus
• Bilingual ability preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Strong sales and customer service skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in seasonal elements for most of the workday.
• Ability to lift 40 pounds.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in inventory and order management systems.
• Self-directed with high ethical standards and accountability for results.
• Understanding of seasonality within the green industry, ability to work 40+ hours per week including Saturdays.
