About This Position

SUMMARY:

Oversees and ensures Little River Casino Resort security and property protection programs.

Assist and do what you and your department can to create a fun, exciting entertainment experience for our guests and engaging, inclusive, supportive work environment for our team members.

MINIMUM NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

• High School diploma or GED

• Bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement or related field and 7 years Casino Security management experience or

• 8 years Law Enforcement / Casino Security experience with four 4 years in a Casino Security management role

Experience:

• Strong working experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating Security property protection programs and budgets

• Prior experience managing in a union environment preferred

• Strong background and knowledge of the laws and regulations governing gaming security and integrity concepts

• Incident Command System (I.C.S) levels 100, 200, 700 and 800 certification and certification for I.C.S. levels 300 and 400 within the first 180 days of employment

• First Aid and Certified Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or must obtain within 90 days of employment

• Valid driver’s license and be insurable on company’s policy

• Michigan TAM certification or must obtain within 90 days of employment

• Working with a Tribally run casino and/or resort preferred

A documented and verifiable combination of education and experience may be substituted for degree requirements.

Age Requirement:

• At least 21 years of age

• Strong computer skills with experience in word processing, databases, and spreadsheets (ability to demonstrate proficiency)

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Conditions of employment with Little River Casino Resort include passing a pre-employment drug test including marijuana, a background investigation to secure a license from the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians Gaming Commission, passing Resort background check to meet the employment eligibility requirements as they pertain to the position and successfully completing a 90-day introductory period.

Individual must not have been charged or released from employment or involved in anything which could be considered a liability to the Resort, e.g. harassment, theft, violence, or integrity issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversees protection of Resort assets.

• Supports the development of preference team members within the Security Department.

• Develops, implements, and oversees policies and procedures related to the security of the Little River Casino Resort facilities.

• Oversees department management responsibilities of union activities.

• Active participant in union negotiations and collective bargaining agreement compliancy.

• Establishes operational procedures for activities such as fire prevention, traffic controls, guarding and patrolling physical property, orienting, and monitoring of personnel involved with classified information, and investigation of accidents and criminal acts.

• Works with the management team to formulate Security policies, determine need for Security programs, and coordinate Security programs with Resort activities.

• Active participant in a unified command for incidents that occur on property.

• Liaison with local emergency management teams. Works with representatives of local government to ensure cooperation and coordination of Resort activities with law enforcement and firefighting agencies.

• Maintains working knowledge of all Little River Casino Resort operations, programs, events, promotions, and services.

• Responsible for the supervision, retaining, performance evaluations, training and disciplinary actions of team members.

• Authorizes the hiring and termination of department team members.

• Must adhere to safety rules and regulations of Little River Casino Resort and of the department.

• Ensure that all department staff operates efficiently and effectively and that department goals / objectives are met on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

• Actively conduct department meetings, managers meetings, and staff communication meetings

• Attend training, seminars, work sessions, executive sessions, and any other meetings as assigned, scheduled, or requested by the LRCR General Manager.

• Prepare any monthly, quarterly and/or annual reports and/or updates required by the position.

• Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the team member may be required to frequently stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions. There may be prolonged periods of sitting, keyboarding, reading, as well as driving or riding. The team member must occasionally be able to push, pull, grasp, lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Any lifting and/or moving over 50 pounds needs to be done in a team lift. Specific vision abilities required by this job include reading, document, computer, distance, and color vision. Talking and hearing are essential to communicate with team members, vendors, and staff in individual, department, small and/or large group meetings. Communication in face-to-face discussions, telephone, emails, and other electronic ways required. Must have manual dexterity necessary to manipulate equipment necessary to dealing functions. Must be able to stand/walk for up to 4 hours without a break. May be required to physically subdue, restrain, or remove hostile individuals upon request.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Office, gaming floor and convention center environment including flashing lights, frequent loud noises, and cigarette smoke. Extensive computer use. Must be able to hear and speak to guests. Must be able to stand and exert fast-paced mobility for periods in excess of 8 hours. Must be able to walk, sit, and/or stand for long periods of time. Must have near sight, color vision and depth perception. Must have manual dexterity necessary to manipulate equipment necessary to dealing functions. Must be able to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions. Must be flexible with work schedule. May have to deal with angry or hostile individuals.
