About This Position

Perform order processing, communication and clerical functions to support efficient delivery of quality patient care in accordance with department and organization policies and procedures.

Act as a facilitator of unit systems through: telephone and intercom operations. Transmission of information to patients/families, physicians, nurses, other health care staff, and visitors. Treat each patient, visitor and employee with compassion and courtesy, providing excellent customer relations with all customers. Promote the philosophy, values and goals of the organization and this department, and maintain a functional communication network for the promotion of effective customer service. Participate in coordinating interaction between hospital departments with respect to maintenance and repair, transportation, and supply issues and housekeeping activities. Maintain medical records by appropriate organization, posting and filing of medical records documents. Accurate transcription of physician’s orders. Participate in the hospital charging system by generating and forwarding unit-based requisitions to appropriate departments. Assist in orienting new Health Unit Coordinators and participate in the peer evaluation process. Responsible for keeping inventory of floor stock as delegated. Assist in maintaining an accurate log of floor activities and other statistical information as requested. Demonstrate a positive attitude and an ability to work with others in a cooperative effort to ensure customer satisfaction and Continuous Quality Improvement. Contribute to Continuous Quality Improvement by maintaining awareness of unit activities and participating in data collection. Participate in all meetings, in-service sessions and required self-development programs and activities. May be required to assume responsibilities of a lesser, equal or greater level.

Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Minimum Experience: One year in clerical position preferred 3. Specific Skills, Knowledge and/or Competencies: Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Related health-care experience preferred.

Compensation

Minimum Pay: $17.83

Maximum Pay: $27.64
