At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards). Benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare, well-being benefits, paid family leave as well as generous paid time off. Total Rewards also include banking perks, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K plan with company match and may include the opportunity to participate in our Non-Qualified Deferred Compensation plan. Incentives and benefits are subject to eligibility requirements.

Salary Range: $65,000-$86,000/annually

Position Summary

As a member of the finance team, this position is responsible for leading the analysis of financial data for all aspects of the company, including budgeting and forecasting.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Become the Strategic Partner with one or more of the business units of Midland by:
  • Develop relationships with Executive and Senior Management of assigned Business Units to recognize and communicate areas of improvement to further the financial performance of the unit.
  • Facilitate the development, implementation, and ongoing coordination of the quarterly forecast (including annual budgets) and financial planning processes including monthly variance analysis.
  • Facilitate the ongoing evaluation and analysis of operating business units using financial analysis and modeling tools including key trend analysis and general ledger research to support and drive sound business decisions.
  • Assist with the production of monthly, quarterly and year-end management reports including ad hoc reports as requested by management.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of the internal reporting structure.
  • Monitor progress on difficult assignments and provide guidance on complex issues within finance.
  • Interpret and apply organizational policy and provide input to change methods or procedures to improve efficiency.
  • Work on activities and projects with others inside and outside of the Finance department, will lead projects and coordinate resources.
  • Mentor other team members.
  • The role requires occasional travel for training and team meetings, and willingness to travel periodically, to locations within market as needed.
  • May require work in a Midland office to ensure collaboration and support of internal and external customers.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  • Other duties as assigned.


Position Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance .
  • Certification or advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years of bank finance experience.
  • Experience with Funds Transfer Pricing, budgeting and forecasting software.
  • Must have report design experience.
