About This Position
SUMMARY OF POSITION
An Emergency Technician performs various duties to assist the Registered Nurse, Physicians and other Hospital personnel with the provision of patient care in the Emergency Department. An Emergency Technician may perform services at the Hospital provided the services are performed in accordance with the following conditions:
- The Emergency Technician services performed are only performed in the Hospital’s Emergency Department; or, while moving a patient between the Emergency Department and another part of the Hospital.
- The Emergency Technician services are performed under the direction and supervision of one of the following:
- A Physician
- A Physician Assistant designated by a Physician
- A Registered Nurse designated by a Physician
- The Emergency Technician may perform skills that are approved by and verified by their training.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Working hours vary according to departmental need; includes days, afternoons, nights, weekends and holidays; overtime based on a 40 hour work week.
- Works under the direct supervision of an RN.
- Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priority of duties throughout the day
- Sitting/standing/moving about during working hours
- Hazardous Exposure Category – I – tasks that involve exposure to blood, bodily fluids or tissues
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ADDENDUM
O = Occasi 0- 33% of the work shift or 0- 32 repetitions.
F = Frequently = 34-66% of the work shift or 32-200+ repetitions.
C = C 67-100% of the work shift or 200+ repetitions.
N = Not essential job requirement.
