Contract - Control System Engineer

Our client in Richmond, CA is looking for an experienced Control System Engineer to support the team on a 6-12 month contract.

Responsibilities:

• Support the CSA/CSE team with PLC and Operator Interface (OIT) assets across the refinery.
• Provide support to the CSA/CSE team in implementing MOC processes related to PLC logic modifications and associated changes.
• Maintain and troubleshoot Rockwell PLCs (SLC, ControlLogix, PLC5, CompactLogix etc.) and PanelView and Proface systems.
• Manage and update PLC software, licensing, and version control on support laptops/desktops.
• Maintain an accurate installed base inventory of PLC types, versions, and spare parts.
• Contribute to PLC lifecycle projects with onsite data collection and participate in the commissioning, functional testing, and startup of new PLC systems.
• Provide on-call support as part of the rotating CSA/CSE schedule.

Work Environment:

• On-site position at our Client site in Richmond, California
• Work schedule is 9/80 plus rotation in on-call after-hours support based on Client schedule.
• Participation in after-hours support rotation with our Clients team members.
• Safety and compliance awareness are required in all refinery operations.
• Background check and random drug testing required. Must hold a valid driver’s license.

• Hands-on experience with Rockwell PLCs (SLC, ControlLogix, PLC5, CompactLogix, MicroLogix) and PanelView Plus and Proface HMIs.
• Proficiency in PLC troubleshooting, including program upload/download.
• Working knowledge of communication protocols: Data Highway Plus, Ethernet/IP, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP.
• Experience with Prosoft/Prolinx communication cards and gateways.
• Familiarity with FactoryTalk AssetCentre, Rockwell/Siemens VFDs (preferred).
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and within a team.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
