About This Position
Job Overview:
To assist in coordinating the daily activities of the Respiratory Care Service as well as shift reports and work assignments. Act as preceptor to new employees, participate in educational and process improvement programs designed for presentation to respiratory care, nursing, and other ancillary services. Assist in preparation of annual performance evaluations, performs and documents disciplinary actions. Performs and documents therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care modalities. May assume the responsibilities for the management of the Respiratory Care Service in the absence of the Director/Manager.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Associates of Applied Science
- Graduate of AMA approved Respiratory Therapy Program, RRT or CRT
- AACVPR, CPFT
Preferred:
- ACLS
- Bachelor's of Science
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- Registered Respiratory Therapist by NBRC
- Licensed by New Jersey State Board of Respiratory Care
- BLS Certification (American Heart Association)
Scheduling Requirements:
- Shift working, 8:30am - 5:00pm
- Monday - Friday
- Full-Time
Essential Functions:
- Keeps staff informed of current work status and assignments
- Shares information and solicits feedback to create a sense of belonging among fellow staff members,
- Practices focused listening to gather relevant data/information to settle disputes
- Ensures disputes are handled in a fair and equitable manner
- Effectively addresses conflict in a timely, honest and straightforward manner
- Finds common ground with peers, coworkers, and customers to resolve conflicts
- Accurately determines length, difficulty, and availability of resources needed to complete assignment,
- Proactively works to insure equitable work assignments
- Appropriately prioritizes tasks
- Consistently provides a timely schedule for all staff
- Has a good working knowledge of e-time attendance system
- Models service recovery techniques to ensure customer satisfaction
- Effectively interacts with physicians, nurses and other ancillary staff
- Administers therapy as per physician orders and documents patient assessment, therapy given, procedure performed, medications administered, patient tolerance/adverse reactions and effectiveness of treatment,
- Responds to all codes when needed and maintains current CPR card
- Performs therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care modalities
- Expresses a thorough understanding of monitoring equipment and its physiological application
- Manages patients on Critical Care Equipment; Mechanical Ventilation, BiPAP, CPAP
- Assists fellow staff with workload when applicable
- Acts as preceptor to new employees
- Demonstrates sensitivity for respect of age, gender, and cultural differences
- Understands the function and monitors all respiratory care equipment for appropriateness of care
- Maintains appropriate supply pars
- Documents all pertinent information in the medical record in a timely manner
- Other duties as assigned
