About This Position

Manager Research Billing

Position Highlights:

  • The responsibilities of the Manager, Research Billing include but are not limited, to developing and executing a best practices work-plan and manage all activities related to research patient financial billing under the direction of the Revenue Integrity and Billing Manager.
  • Providing operational oversight of the research financial specialists staff and serve as a liaison between research billing and the clinical trials budgets and contracts staff.
  • Engage with clinical trials administrative personnel and professional coding team to confirm billable items and services are charged appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to the Research Patient Financial Specialists.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify key metrics to ensure research billing is functioning at optimal efficiency
  • Resource the teams appropriately to ensure billing is compliant and timely
  • Develop monitoring functions to ensure compliant billing
  • Continuously identify workflow bottlenecks and develop solutions engaging appropriate teams and functions
  • Educate team members on process changes, efficiencies and operational changes
  • Work with other members of the organization and facilitate dialogue to improve overall process and output
  • Develop reports and dashboards with the help of IT to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Maintain a detailed knowledge about research billing, compliance matters and research regulations
  • Assist team members with interpretation of difficult or complex protocols/budgets

Credentials and Experience:

  • Associate’s Degree – field of study: Finance, Nursing, HIM, Business, Healthcare Administration or relevant clinical fields
    • A minimum of seven (7)) years experience leading teams in a operational finance, revenue cycle, or clinical healthcare environment, as well as experience with CMS rules and regulations, coding and billing compliance.

OR

  • Bachelor's degree - field of study: Finance, Nursing, HIM, Business, Healthcare Administration or relevant clinical fields
    • A minimum of five (5) years experience leading teams in a operational finance, revenue cycle, or clinical healthcare environment, as well as experience with CMS rules and regulations, coding and billing compliance.
  • A minimum of three (3) years experience in a supervisory/management role.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with Oncore, Soarian, Cerner Millennium
