About the Role:
The Assistant Coach Football position plays a critical role in supporting the head coach to develop and implement effective training programs that enhance the athletic performance and personal growth of student-athletes. This role involves collaborating closely with coaching staff to strategize game plans, conduct practice sessions, and provide individualized feedback to players. The assistant coach is responsible for fostering a positive and inclusive team environment that emphasizes sportsmanship, discipline, and academic achievement. Additionally, the role requires monitoring player progress, managing equipment, and ensuring compliance with all relevant safety and regulatory standards. Ultimately, the Assistant Coach contributes to building a competitive and cohesive football program that aligns with the educational institution’s values and goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field.
- Prior experience coaching football at the high school or collegiate level.
- Strong understanding of football rules, techniques, and strategies.
- Ability to work effectively with student-athletes of diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working within an educational institution or youth sports program.
- Coaching certification from recognized organizations such as the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) or USA Football.
- Knowledge of sports psychology and athlete development principles.
- Experience with video analysis software and performance tracking tools.
- Demonstrated ability to foster academic and athletic balance among student-athletes.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the head coach in planning and conducting daily practice sessions focused on skill development, conditioning, and tactical understanding.
- Provide individualized coaching and mentorship to players to improve their technical abilities, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Analyze game footage and assist in developing game strategies and adjustments during competitions.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained and organized, and that safety protocols are strictly followed during all team activities.
- Support recruitment efforts by evaluating potential student-athletes and communicating with prospective players and their families.
- Collaborate with academic staff to monitor players’ academic progress and encourage a balance between athletics and education.
- Attend all games, team meetings, and relevant training sessions to maintain consistent communication and team cohesion.
