Overview: The Competitive & Market Intelligence Senior Analyst plays a critical role in influencing and shaping strategic decision making across the Payer Business Unit. This role is responsible for researching, gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing competitive, market, and industry insights to inform product strategy, go-to-market planning, and executive leadership decisions. The ideal candidate is a highly analytical storyteller who can synthesize large amounts of data, uncover trends, and translate complex data into actionable recommendations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyze competitor activities, press releases product offerings/announcements, pricing, partnerships, and market positioning.
- Conduct primary and secondary research to compile a comprehensive and ongoing competitor profile for 15+ competitors in the U.S. Healthcare Insurance software vendor space
- Build and maintain competitive battlecards, profiles, and dashboards for internal stakeholders.
- Conduct deep-dive analyses on emerging competitors, disruptive technologies, and market entrants.
- Partner with Product, Sales, and Marketing to identify competitive threats and opportunities.
- Lead Win/Loss analysis program to understand drivers of sales outcomes, identify competitive patterns, and provide actionable insights that strengthen sales engagement and deal strategy.
- Track industry trends, regulatory changes, customer needs, and macro-market dynamics.
- Conduct market sizing, segmentation, and forecasting to support strategic planning including TAM, SAM, and SOM quantitative analysis
- Evaluate whitespace opportunities and emerging markets for potential expansion.
- Develop insights on customer behavior, buying patterns, and unmet needs.
- Deliver clear, concise, and actionable insights to executive leadership.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly intelligence reports, briefings, and presentations.
- Support annual strategic planning, product road mapping, and investment prioritization.
- Translate data into compelling narratives that influence decision making.making.
- Develop analytical models, including but not limited to TAM/SAM market sizing, pro forma financial models, pricing models, and competitive scoring frameworks, to support strategic planning, product investment decisions, and market opportunity assessments.
- Work closely with Product, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Executive teams.
- Support deal strategy and sales enablement with competitive insights.
- Partner with Product Marketing to refine messaging and positioning based on market dynamics.
- Collaborate with Research, Data, and Analytics teams to validate findings.
- Maintain compliance with Inovalons policies, procedures and mission statement;
- Adhere to all confidentiality and HIPAA requirements as outlined within Inovalons Operating Policies and Procedures in all ways and at all times with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the undertaking of the position; and
- Fulfill those responsibilities and/or duties that may be reasonably provided by Inovalon for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success of the Company.
Job Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in competitive intelligence, market research, strategy, or product analytics (or 10+ years of experience in the US Healthcare commercial software space and appropriate education)
- Strong analytical skills with experience using market research tools, databases, and frameworks.
- Exceptional communication and storytelling abilities, especially for executive audiences.
- Ability to synthesize large amounts of data into clear, actionable insights.
- Experience working in fast-paced, cross-functional environments.
- Experience in US healthcare, technology, SaaS, or regulated industries.
- Familiarity with Competitive Intelligence (CI) tools (e.g., Crayon)
Education:
- Bachelors degree in Business, Economics, Marketing, Data Analytics, or related field; and
- MBA/Masters Degree preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Sedentary work (i.e. sitting for long periods of time);
- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force;
- Frequently or constantly to lift, carry push, pull or otherwise move objects and repetitive motions;
- Subject to inside environmental conditions; and
- Travel for this position will include less than 15%.
