Johnsons Sewer & Drain Contractors / Roto-Rooter of Delmarva is looking for an ideal candidate to fill the role of Jr Network Administrator onsite at our main office location in Denton, MD. About the Role:
The Jr. Network Administrator plays a critical role in supporting and maintaining the organization's network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and security. This position involves monitoring network systems, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and assisting in the implementation of network upgrades and configurations. The successful candidate will work closely with senior IT staff to maintain network hardware and software, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient data flow across all departments. Additionally, the Jr. Network Administrator will contribute to documenting network processes and assist in enforcing security protocols to protect organizational data. This role is essential for sustaining a reliable and secure network environment that supports the company’s operational goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
- Familiarity with network hardware including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Experience with network monitoring tools and troubleshooting techniques.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent.
- Experience with network security practices and tools.
- Knowledge of cloud networking and virtualization technologies.
- Prior experience supporting enterprise-level network environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Monitoring & Support
- Monitor network performance and availability
- Assist with maintaining LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless networks
- Troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues
- Support configuration and maintenance of routers, switches, and firewalls
- Escalate complex network issues to senior administrators
System Administration
- Assist with managing servers and cloud services
- Maintain user accounts, permissions, and access controls
- Support Microsoft 365 or similar productivity platforms
- Assist with Active Directory administration
- Perform routine system updates and patch management
Technical Support
- Provide Tier 2 technical support to employees
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues
- Assist with deployment of computers, tablets, and mobile devices
- Support remote users and field staff connectivity
Security & Backup Support
- Assist in maintaining endpoint security systems
- Monitor system logs and security alerts
- Support implementation of multi-factor authentication
- Help maintain backup systems and disaster recovery procedures
- Assist with vulnerability scans and security audits
Documentation & Process Improvement
- Maintain documentation of network systems and procedures
- Update network diagrams and system inventories
- Document troubleshooting steps and solutions
- Recommend improvements to IT processes and system reliability
Skills:
The Jr. Network Administrator uses foundational networking skills daily to monitor and maintain network health, ensuring seamless communication across the organization. Troubleshooting skills are essential for quickly diagnosing and resolving connectivity issues that may arise. Knowledge of network hardware and software enables the administrator to assist in configuring and upgrading systems effectively. Communication and documentation skills are important for collaborating with team members and maintaining clear records of network configurations and procedures. Additionally, familiarity with security protocols helps the administrator contribute to protecting the network from vulnerabilities and unauthorized access.
Pay:
- $23-25.00 /hourly DOE
