About This Position
BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
Performs multiple office and/or common area cleaning tasks in accordance with Environmental Services procedures and Hospital policies and procedures. Collects non-medical and regulated medical waste containers for collection. Collects corrugated boxes. May include floor care maintenance and required equipment to maintain floors and carpeting. Responsible for stocking carts, and collection of soiled linen. Responds to house pages when assigned.
Candidate may also be expected to assist in performing other administrative task as assigned as well as assisting other areas of the Revenue Cycle Division or Clinical Services Division as deemed necessary.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS

- Maintains a safe working environment; reports unsafe working conditions and/or maintenance concerns to Environmental Services Lead, Coordinator or Director.
- Completes area assignments in a timely manner.
- Performs additional area assignments and/or assists co-workers as needed.
- Linen Specific
- Job is aerobically challenging and requires a high degree of physical activity.
- Lifting/carrying laundry bags weighing up to 60 pounds.
- Repetitive lifting laundry bags and hoisting overhead onto soiled laundry carts.
- Operation of the Tuggar for collection of soiled linen
- Collection and handling of soiled linen from inside the hospital
- Lifts soiled linen bags up to and sometimes exceeding 60 pounds.
- Trash Specific
- Performs trash disposal duties as assigned:
- Collects and transports solid waste to designated dumpsters.
- Notifies appropriate waste hauler for collection and pick-up as needed.
- Collects regulated medical waste, sharps and pharmaceutical containers and stores in appropriate areas in compliance with EPA regulations.
- Operates the autoclave in compliance with Stark County Health Dept and EPA regulations for regulated medical waste.
- Cleans trash carts with EPA registered hospital-grade disinfectant as needed
- Floor Care
- Uses wet floor signs appropriately and removes them in a timely manner.
- Operates floor scrubber and floor burnisher appropriately.
- Strips, waxes and burnishes floors.
- Spot washes walls, spot cleans carpet, high dusts areas according to policy/procedure.
- Stocks toilet tissue, towels, and hand soap where needed in areas of assignment.
- Performs wet mopping techniques, according to established procedures.
- Correctly operates and maintains vacuum cleaners.
- Keeps cleaning carts clean, stocked, and ready to use.
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma/GED preferred
- Institutional cleaning experience preferred
- Floor care maintenance experience preferred
- Excellent customer service skills

JOB LOCATION AND SCHEDULING
- Varied locations and hours as required by the job
- Works every other weekend
- Works 3 scheduled holidays
- Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priority of duties throughout the day.
- Ability to work shifts of at least 8 hours, and occasionally longer.
