About This Position
Florida Urology Partners is growing and we are looking to add to our Surgical Authorization team! The Surgical Authorization Specialist is responsible for reviewing, processing, and securing prior authorization for surgical procedures. This role ensures that all necessary documentation is complete and accurate, collaborates with healthcare providers and insurance companies, and maintains compliance with policies and regulations to facilitate timely surgical approvals.
Principle Accountabilities:
- Review and evaluate authorization requests for surgical procedures received from healthcare providers.
- Obtain and verify necessary medical documentation, patient information, and supporting materials.
- Communicate with insurance companies to secure prior authorizations and resolve any issues or denials.
- Collaborate with Surgery Scheduling Team as well as healthcare providers to clarify or obtain additional information as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of all authorization requests, approvals, and denials.
- Review daily surgery schedules for patients needing prior authorization.
- Request and obtain all authorizations prior to patients scheduled surgery.
- Prepare and enter all authorizations into the Epic program.
- Communicate to direct supervisor any potential authorization issues.
Must have at least 2 years of surgical authorization experience. Experience with Epic EHR a plus. Communication and the ability to positively interact with both patients and co-workers. Must have working knowledge of healthcare insurances and medical terminology.
