Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Fire Sprinkler Senior Services Mechanic with the ability to install fire sprinkler systems and to inspect and repair sprinkler systems for established customers on a scheduled basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA 25, NFPA 13, local fire codes, and AHJ requirements.
  • Diagnose system deficiencies, impairments, and operational issues; perform necessary repairs to restore systems to proper working conditions.
  • Conduct inspections on wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge fire sprinkler systems.
  • Accurately document inspection results, deficiencies, repairs, and recommendations using company reporting systems and required forms.
  • Identify required corrective actions and communicate repair needs clearly to supervisors, coordinators, or customers.
  • Execute service and repair work including replacing sprinkler heads, valves, gauges, piping, fittings, and system components.
  • Perform system shutdowns, drain downs, restorations, and impairment procedures in a safe and compliant manner.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies at all job sites.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, property managers, and AHJs during inspections and service visits.
  • Maintain service vehicles, tools, and equipment in clean, safe, and working conditions.
  • Assist with emergency service calls and after-hours response as required.
  • Support scheduling and coordination efforts by providing accurate field feedback and job status updates.
  • Stay current with changes in fire sprinkler codes, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Promote quality workmanship, customer satisfaction, and company standards at all times.

Additional Functions:

  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience:

  • Proven experience performing fire sprinkler inspections and service repairs.
  • Strong working knowledge of NFPA standards and local fire codes.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple service tasks.

Qualifications:

  • S12 and S13 Certificate of Fitness (COF) required
  • NICET Level II/NICET Level III Certification in Water Based Systems preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience to perform Monthly Visual Inspections, Quarterly Testing, Semi Annual & Annual Flow Testing of Sprinkler Systems as per NFPA 25.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the installation, maintenance, inspection and repair of fire sprinklers or related equipment.
  • Ability to perform 5-Year Hydro-static Testing on the FD Connections (Both Sprinkler and Standpipe) and experience in working with FDNY to witness testing.
  • Must be able to successfully perform service and repairs on commercial/industrial sprinkler systems.
  • Must act as the contact customer representative and ascertain equipment/systems problems and residential applications, some which may include:
    • Wet (steel, copper and CPVC)
    • Dry
    • Pre-Action
    • Deluge
    • Fire Pumps
  • Knowledge and experience in performing Annual Fire Pump Testing along with Monthly/Weekly Churn Testing.
  • Back-flow Certification is preferred.
  • Current valid state driver's license.
  • HS diploma/ GED equivalent.
  • Ability to be available when scheduled and on-call as needed including flexible hours and weekends when required.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and operational/product manuals.
  • Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment & tools up to 50-70 lbs.
  • Able to work in unusual & difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding & high-lift equipment up to 40-ft, to work within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
  • Able to participate in an on-call rotation schedule.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a high level of customer service.
  • Must process strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly.

Physical Requirements:

  • The job may require moderate physical labor including activities such as lifting equipment, climbing ladders, or working in confined spaces.
