At Volunteers of America (VOA) Spokane, Security Officers help maintain safe, structured environments for individuals rebuilding their lives. Judgment, awareness, and respectful presence matter here.

Former military, law enforcement, corrections, and experienced security professionals are strongly encouraged to apply.

Security at VOA Spokane is relationship-based and trauma-informed. Officers support safety through situational awareness, early intervention, and steady decision-making.

During evening and overnight hours, you may be the most senior staff member on site. Your judgment matters.

Part-Time

• Monday: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  
• Thursday: 3:00 PM – 10:00 PM
  
• Friday: 3:00 PM – 10:00 PM

All shifts require remaining awake, alert, and fully engaged.

• Maintain safety for participants, staff, and facilities
• Conduct patrols and monitor security systems
• Respond to incidents using verbal de-escalation and sound judgment
• Coordinate with emergency responders when needed
• Document incidents clearly and accurately
• Maintain professional boundaries and respectful communication

Required

• High school diploma or GED
• 2+ years of security experience or comparable military, law enforcement, corrections, or emergency response experience
• Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
• Ability to pass required background checks
• Willingness to obtain CPR/First Aid/BBP certification

Preferred

• Experience in behavioral health, housing, shelter, or crisis environments
• Strong report-writing skills
• De-escalation or crisis response training
