Role Summary:

The Senior Paralegal & Compliance Specialist provides critical support to legal and business operations as an integral team member by ensuring documents of all types, including contracts, regulatory, corporate, finance, compliance, and other documentation are accurate, compliant, properly negotiated, executed, filed and managed properly pursuant to internal policies. This role requires a motivated self-starter with strong attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement. The Senior Paralegal & Compliance Specialist supports regulatory documentation and compliance activities, tracks regulatory submission deadlines, assists with internal approvals, and maintains organized records and reporting.

The position also serves as a customer-facing resource for internal and potentially external stakeholders, requiring a personable and responsive professional who can collaborate across departments.

This role travels as needed to company offices and facilities located in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont as required to perform the role functions. Limited overnight and out of the region travel could be required.

Responsibilities

  • Drafts, reviews, analyzes, and proofreads contracts, agreements, legal correspondence, etc.;
  • Ensures documents are accurate, complete, and consistent with legal requirements;
  • Routes documents for internal approvals and ensures proper execution;
  • Assists with the maintenance and improvement of mostly electronic, but also physical filing systems;
  • Conducts legal and regulatory research;
  • Assists in tracking regulatory submission deadlines and compliance requirements;
  • Maintains trackers for key dates such as contract expirations and renewals, regulatory and compliance filings;
  • Coordinates document requests and information flow;
  • Supports environmental, construction, and other permitting planning, and filings;
  • Tracks compliance requirements tied to projects and/or operations;
  • Assists with documentation and internal processes related to equipment and other procurement and/or project development;
  • Coordinates document collection and information gathering from multiple internal stakeholders;
  • Assists with land management agreements, including licenses, leases, rights-of-way, and other property-related agreements, and occasional filings;
  • Serves as a professional and responsive point of contact for internal stakeholders and external partners regarding legal documentation and processes;
  • Assists in the management of legal department and other pertinent budgets; and
  • Performs other duties as required.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in any field preferred; concentration in business or finance a plus;
  • Master’s degree a plus;
  • 6–10+ years of progressive in-house or law firm paralegal and compliance experience; experience in the wholesale, renewable, and general energy sectors preferred;
  • Experience reviewing and managing contracts and legal documentation generally, and for accuracy and completeness;
  • Experience supporting corporate and regulatory compliance activities, including tracking submission deadlines and maintaining regulatory files;
  • Experience reviewing and/or supporting analysis and occasional filing of property records, liens, easements, and encumbrances related to land or infrastructure assets;
  • Real estate and/or insurance experience a plus;
  • Strong PC skills, including MS Office, especially SharePoint, Word, Excel, and procurement systems;
  • Ability to properly handle and maintain highly confidential information;
  • Strong interpersonal abilities, including effective written, oral, and listening communication skills;
  • Ability to develop trusting relationships using tact, discretion, and diplomacy;
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and proofreading accuracy;
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively identify, recommend, and resolve issues;
  • Ability to support project coordination, including tracking milestones, deadlines, and deliverables across multiple initiatives;
  • Self-starter with strong motivation, proactive work style, and commitment to continuous learning and improvement; and
  • Flexibility to respond to multiple and changing organizational priorities over time.

Salary Range: $110,000-$124,000 + bonus (BOE)
