We are currently seeking experienced and mission-driven Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a state-supported residential care setting.


Compensation & Assignment Details
  • Pay Rate: $44/hour
  • Pay Schedule: Weekly pay with benefit options
  • Shift Availability: Must be flexible with up to 16 hour shifts, if needed.
    • 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
    • Plus one additional 4-hour shift per week:
      7:00 AM – 11:00 AM or 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM

  • Location: San Angelo TX
  • Assignment Length: 6-month minimum contract with option to extend

Essential Job Functions
The Licensed Vocational Nurse performs moderate to complex nursing services in a residential setting, providing both routine and emergency care to individuals with intellectual disabilities. This role is critical in promoting health, safety, dignity, and quality of life.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Deliver routine and emergency nursing care, treatment, and training in accordance with established standards and care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments via oral, rectal, internal, and injectable routes, following physician orders and facility protocols.
  • Collaborate closely with Registered Nurses (RNs), Physicians, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs), and Physician Assistants to support comprehensive patient care.
  • Conduct rounds, home visits, and provide nursing services across various locations within the facility as assigned.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in technical nursing tasks and procedures in compliance with state regulations and facility standards.
  • Perform basic and routine nursing duties while progressively developing advanced clinical competencies under the guidance and supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Monitor individuals’ weight, dietary intake, feedings, and vital signs; assess health status following treatments and procedures.
  • Educate and instruct direct support professionals on post-treatment and post-procedure monitoring, utilizing standardized instruction tools (e.g., post-sedation observation guidelines).
  • Accurately and timely document all nursing care, treatments, and observations in the individual’s medical record (electronic or paper), in alignment with facility policies.
  • Respond effectively to emergency situations to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals and staff.
  • Adhere strictly to infection control, safety, and risk management protocols.
  • Collect laboratory specimens and perform designated screening tests as requested.
  • Ensure proper positioning of individuals prior to treatments and assist or instruct staff in safe turning and repositioning techniques as needed.
  • Maintain readiness of medical supplies by ensuring units are adequately stocked, inventoried, and prepared in advance of procedures or treatments.
  • Comply with facility standard operating procedures and Joint Commission Standards

Licensure, Certification & Registration Requirements
  • Active Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in the State of Texas, or a compact state recognized through the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)
  • Current CPR certification
  • Valid government-issued photo identification

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Qualified candidates must demonstrate:
  • A minimum of 1 year of direct care nursing experience
  • Substantial knowledge of:
    • Nursing techniques, procedures, and standards of care
    • Healthcare laws, regulations, and compliance requirements
    • Medical diagnoses, treatment modalities, and accepted clinical practices
    • Community health and nursing care principles
    • Program regulations and facility procedures
  • The ability to interact respectfully, compassionately, and effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities and interdisciplinary team members
