The Addiction and Mental Health Worker, Supportive Shared Housing, aims to contribute to an integrated mental health system by providing community-based mental health services and to optimize mental well-being through education, advocacy, research, and support services. We envision a supportive community where people achieve, manage, and celebrate mental well-being.
This role provides comprehensive, flexible community support services to ensure that opportunities/supports for individuals to experience a variety of life situations, which further develop levels of independence are offered and promote the achievement of client self-prescribed goals, both on and off program site.

WHAT WE'RE OFFERING:
- What you’ll be making: Starting rate for this role is $27.14 per hour (Level 1 – Direct Service), with a wage differential, based on regulation ($30.01 per hour for Level 1 – Direct Service, Regulated):
- Successful candidates who are registered with one of the designated professional colleges (e.g. OCSWSSW, CNO, COTO, CRPO, CPSO, or CPO) will receive the wage differential for regulation
- Successful external applicants will start at Level 1, with grid progression based on seniority up to Level 8 ($34.41 per hour for non-regulated, and $37.26 per hour for regulated)
- For internal applicants, grid level placement will occur as per the Collective Agreement
- When you'll work - 70 hours biweekly; Monday to Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm
- Your pension plan – Immediate enrolment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
- What your benefits will be – After a 90-day waiting period, will be eligible for extended healthcare benefits.
HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE:
- Tenancy support, including home/unit selection and signing of lease agreement, income verification, orientation to home and community agency, move-in assistance, rent collection
- Life skills coaching, including budgeting, food preparation, use of transportation, housekeeping skills, etc.
- Social support, including communication skills, recreational community outings, connections to the community
- Health and wellness support, including medication education, symptom management, referrals to specialized health services, support with physical health concerns, education of personal hygiene
- Eviction support, including landlord liaison, support obtaining legal assistance, navigation of Landlord Tenant Board processes
- Assess individuals’ strengths, abilities, needs and preferences to assist individual with wellness plans and goals
- Assess social and environmental risk factors, and include social and natural supports
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO APPLY:
Police Vulnerable Sector Check Requirements
Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months. Interested applicants who reside in the City of London and are in need of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) are encouraged to apply for one as soon as possible as PVSCs in the City of London are currently taking approximately 2 weeks to be processed and offers of employment cannot be made without receipt of a PVSC.
We require the following qualifications:

- Post-secondary education in a relevant field of study, e.g. social services (Primary proof of credentials will be required during the hiring process, i.e. original degree/diploma/certificate or official transcript)
- Valid Driver’s License
- Access to a vehicle and insurance adequate for transporting clients
- Demonstrated ability to attend work regularly
We prefer the following qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience in the addiction and mental health field
- First Aid / CPR
- Knowledge of Psychosocial Rehabilitation
- Experience working in a residence setting
- Knowledge of psychiatric medications
- Knowledge of community resources
- Knowledge of computerized documentation methods
- Crisis intervention and prevention training
- Applied Suicide Interventions Skills and Training
- Safe Food Handling
